While most economist talk about the impacts of climate change as projections in the future, this professor says global warming has already reduced US incomes by 12% on average. @uarizona.bsky.social h/t @dharna.bsky.social

Climate change's hidden price tag: a drop in our income
By linking decades of weather and income data, University of Arizona economist Derek Lemoine shows how routine temperature shifts have already become an economic force.

More expensive, more pollution and more climate change: this is what Trump is offering with his climate policies. And when climate change hits, it's going to get really expensive. Everyone must do their part today to make sure future catastrophe is that more lethal even if it costs more.
January 15, 2026 at 10:26 PM
Tariffs: Trump's tariffs make everything more expensive because they're a sales tax on imported goods and Trump is threatening other countries with tariffs unless they purchase and burn American fossil fuels. Here, Trump is trying to make everything unaffordable while worsening climate change.

Because clean energy is so cheap, clean energy deployment will lower electricity costs and therefore, Trump's anti-clean policies, along with keeping expensive coal plants open, will cause electricity rates to go up.
January 15, 2026 at 10:24 PM
Stopping clean energy deployment: Trump is doing whatever he can to kneecap wind and solar. Right now, wind and solar are the cheapest sources of power and the quickest to bring to market.

electricity costs less than gas and EVs have next to zero maintenance costs. We need to encourage electric vehicle purchases because they will save consumers money, reduce air pollution and mitigate climate change.
January 15, 2026 at 10:23 PM
Making electric vehicles more expensive: Trump is eliminating subsidies so everyone needs to pay more for electric vehicles. Beyond the subsidies, electric vehicles will save consumers money over the longer term compared with ICE vehicles:
January 15, 2026 at 10:23 PM
Weakening auto fuel efficiency standards: Trump is trying to roll back auto efficiency standards. Weakening these standards will require consumers to pay more to fill up their tank when buying gas, while polluting more and worsening climate change. Fuel efficient vehicles save consumers money.

Coal causes air pollution, water pollution and yet Trump wants electricity ratepayers to pay a premium to keep expensive coal plants open, increasing their electricity bills.
January 15, 2026 at 10:20 PM
Here is a list of what Trump is doing to raise prices and worsen climate change:

Keeping uneconomic coal plants open: Mining for coal degrades our natural environment, burning coal pollutes our air and then after it's burned, coal combustion waste leaks into the water poisoning it.
January 15, 2026 at 10:20 PM
Americans need to pay extra for electricity, for gasoline, for vehicle maintenance because they need to subsidize future climate catastrophe. I call this Trump's Climate Catastrophe Tax. We all need to pay more today to ensure the suffering of future generations.
January 15, 2026 at 10:19 PM
According to public opinion polls, voters are still worried about costs and believe that Trump isn't doing enough to lower prices.

A review of Trump's climate policies reveals he is committed to increasing prices and air pollution while worsening climate change.
January 15, 2026 at 10:18 PM
Affordability is right now the watch word in American electoral politics. In 2024 Voters replaced President Biden with Trump because they were concerned about the rising costs of various consumer items like food and gasoline.

Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.

TAPPER: You called Renee Good a "domestic terrorist." Why did you not wait for an investigation?

NOEM: Everything I've said has been proven to be factual and the truth. This administration wants to operate in transparency.

T: What you said is not what happened

N: It absolutely is what happened

At this point, the American public is entitled to adverse inference regarding the Epstein files.

In other words, you should assume that they are as bad for Trump as they could conceivably be.

I can't believe I'm posting this video - but we actually have to have a conversation about the real world implications of America going to war over Greenland.

Let me walk you through it. It doesn't turn out well for us.

It doesn’t take a trained ear to hear the deflections. Homan does not deny taking a bag of money. The public deserves answers.
WELKER: Where is that $50,000? Did you keep it?

HOMAN: I didn't take $50k from anybody & that's a question for the FBI. Bottom line I did nothing illegal.

WELKER: But was there $50k in the bag?

HOMAN: I'm not addressing it

WELKER: But did you keep the money?

HOMAN: $50k is ridiculous

Everyone needs to vote for democrats instead of complaining about democrats. We are all the Democratic Party and if we all work together we win. The alternative is signing up for MAGA

Looks like ICE is now cracking down on … Native Americans.

This letter was just posted by the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North/South Dakota:

“Our Nation is a sovereign government and our members are not immigrants. We are not subject to immigration enforcement on our own lands.”
