I think it's a little odd how people go in for this kind of nuclear-strength rhetoric over a disagreement about what issues it is most advantageous to talk about at the margin.
What you need to understand is @mattyglesias.bsky.social is a moral black hole and even then his depraved indifference brand of advice to democrats does not win elections

Can I just say 2 things: First, Matt fails to see how these two sentences are different:

"Trump is weak on the economy and highlighting it is bad for him"
"Trump is weak on the economy, so Democrats shouldn't talk about immigration"

I think this says a lot about his ideological priors
Here's a good post from Elliott Morris, the leader of the anti-Yglesias bandwagon, about how Trump's biggest political vulnerability is the cost of living and how Trump is screwing up by drawing more attention to it.

Sen. Ron Wyden on the Trump DOJ not producing all of the Epstein files, as required by law:

"Anything short of a full release today is a violation of the law and a continuation of this administration’s coverup on behalf of a bunch of pedophiles and sex traffickers."

The trick of comparing 2012 Obama energy policy when solar panel costs have dropped 86% and battery storage has dropped 93% in the 13 years since is so disingenuous as to remind me that he will bend the facts to always arrive at a “centrist” position.

Centrism is cosplay for seriousness.

Trump administration asking US oil industry to return to Venezuela — but getting no takers
The administration’s outreach to the industry, previously unreported, is the latest sign the White House is dreaming of a post-Maduro future for Venezuela.

Speaking ill of the dead is controversial, particularly when it was a violent death. It’s edgy; it’s sensitive; best avoided in most cases, etc.

Baselessly making another person’s murder *about yourself,* and then approving of it, is a different thing. That is delusional, narcissistic, sociopathic.

The Republican chairman of the Oversight Committee has refused to excuse Bill and Hillary Clinton from appearing in person for depositions in the Epstein investigation. It is the starkest example yet of House Republicans’ attempt to shift focus away from President Trump and onto prominent Democrats.

Genuine question: Why's the reaction of many politicians to AI 'it's transformational, we must go faster, we can dismiss concerns over energy, copyright, job losses', yet the reaction to a clean tech transition that's more advanced and has less overt downsides is 'steady now, we need to slow down'.

Many of the firms that benefited from the leniency had financial ties to the Trump family.
