For those struggling

Have you never considered that having a disability can be & is often a massive hurdle to gainful employment?

Have you considered that disability is sprawling, diverse & comes for us all?

That even from a self-preservation standpoint you should advocate for disability justice?

Back in my day you were taught that if anyone online even knows your hair colour, you're fucking DEAD
Kinda Fucked Up that in our lifetimes we've gone from "never share personal info on the internet" to "hand over your identity to the most incompetent corporations imaginable".

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

If anyone is selling you the opportunity to make money, *you* are how *they* make money and the 'secret' they have is convincing people like you to pay them.

There will be a lot of smoke & mirrors to make it look like you have agency, but the product is your gullibility.

Armies wear uniforms for a reason. And not just because it makes the laundry easier.

I am reminded of certain lilac blossoms on a certain Glorious 25th of May. How do you tell your comrades from your potential murderers? A carrot, a leek, a lilac sprig, a red knitted hat, a frog costume.

Duh.
I keep hearing how pointless the knit hats are but even aside from the money those have raised, visual symbols of how many of us there are are good. It's solidarity building and keeps the goons from telling themsrlves everyone secretly agrees with them. Nobody's KNITTING a statement they dislike.

6. Telling people off for being excited about something positive and productive in this time of relentless shit is not praxis. It’s being a miserable shitlord. I’m sure it feels great to tell people off online, but you’re being a dick.

If you're a business owner who fires someone you have assigned to an overseas job and you don't buy them a plane ticket home you should actually go to prison

liked it because it actually had a good variety going. I appear to be signing up for this one so early that it doesn't even have all my pronouns yet.

the magic of the Muppets is that there are two fourth walls. they constantly break the one that reminds the audience they are performers. they NEVER break the one that reminds the audience they are puppets. this dynamic is the key to their entire comedy style
MY KIDS: so why are there muppets in the AUDIENCE

ME: THE CONCEIT!! IS THAT THEY'RE PUTTING ON A VARIETY SHOW!!! IN A WORLD WHERE MUPPET AND HUMAN COEXIST!!! YOU ARE WATCHING A DOCUMENTARY!! FILMED!! IN REAL TIME!!!

leveled up with this explanation, cos as an autistic person i pride myself on reacting appropriately to animals, to signal harmlessness, so why wouldn't i want to do this for human animals?

never occurred to me to stop listening to the words and instead recognise the BEHAVIOUR.

Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.
Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it
Just because good news is worth celebrating:

There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.

HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

talking with someone about this today, and their whole expression sharpened suddenly as they asked "is that why ICE is angry people have video from multiple angles?"

AI is the enemy of documentation--which is a way of saying, it's the enemy of accountability.
a reminder that AI isn't just cringe; it's part of this administration's toolkit.
