I've finally released the first full edition of Fear and Panic! This is the most focused, streamlined version of a d100 horror system I could build, based on countless hours of playtesting and experience as a horror GM.

Hypothetically, if I wanted to write an RPG for the Canterbury Tales but in a dsytopic technofeudal future, what existing systems and engines should I look at?

Some of the best tabletop design minds of our generation are collectively giving feedback on the officially licensed Neopets RPG playtest document and thats so beautiful to me.

For those who speak Italian, FumbleGDR's QueerRoll series just did an Italian AP of my game Dawn of the Orcs (L'Alba degli Orchi)!

It was very fun to watch (even if I had to use autotranslated subtitles).

This place is not a place of honor... no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here... nothing valued is here.

What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger. This work was not paid for by John Taylor of Geekify.

Hither came Bilbo, the Hobbit, black-haired, sullen-eyed, ring in hand, a burglar, a barrel-rider, a dragon-slayer, with gigantic appetites and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Middle-Earth under his hairy feet.

From the brilliant mind of Magnolia Keep comes Part One in my new series: Prepping Plots!

Linearity tends to get a bad rep in the RPG circles I frequent, so I thought I'd talk about why a more on-rails experience can be desirable to some players and GMs.

Prepping Plots, Part One: Why Prep Plots?
"Don't prep plots" is a fairly common saying in RPG circles. I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure the precise phrase was originated by  Jus...

I read this game and it's good. Blue-collar spaceship adventures that aren't stuck in the 1980s.

This idea has so much juice.
The misconception that vampires than shapeshift arises from the fact that vampirism is caused by a parasite with a complex life cycle involving several intermediate hosts. Rat, bat, and wolf hosts are all necessary for the successful reproduction of the vampiric parasite at various stages. [1/2]

It is well known that coins and swords are magical. These days, everything is a coin and most things are swords, so the world is dangerously suffused with occult energy.

I think this is where I'll never see eye to eye. I once had an exchange with a folk musician who told me, "don't send me the files over Google drive because I won't use Google products for ethical reasons", and I told him I respected that and mailed him a flash drive with the files on it.
If I give instructions on opening a CSV file, and I say it doesn't matter if you use Excel or Google Sheets, and some guy pops up in the comments to say of course it matters because Google is EVIL, we know that guy is a troll.

That guy is also us.

Anyone ever realize that pretty much every common synonym for "protagonist" or "story" has already been taken as the name of an RPG?

Best and, in many ways, worst is still The Prisoner.
(Life on Mars was good too.)
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

Yog-Sothoth.com , the Call of Cthulhu site & forum that ran for 28 years (!!?), sadly just shut its doors. 😥 I subscribed to them from 2011-2012 till now. They basically invented RPG actual plays, but they did them audio-only (I always turn off the video anyway) so missed the YT revolution. #ttrpg

Yog-sothoth.com is closing. Already locked except the farewell thread. Those forums got me into RPGs in the first place and were an incredible resource - the internet as it should have been, filled with courtesy and education.
