Finally tried making overnight oats and... I do not get the hype. These are fine, I guess? Not sure why this is supposed to be better than warm.

A few months ago @thelocal.to got a promising pitch from a writer with bylines in whole bunch of reputable publications—The Cut, The Guardian, Dwell, Architectural Digest, etc. Then I started investigating. Here's a story about fabulists in journalism's AI slop era. thelocal.to/investigatin...
Investigating a Possible Scammer in Journalism’s AI Era | The Local
A suspicious pitch from a freelancer led editor Nicholas Hune-Brown to dig into their past work. By the end, four publications, including The Guardian and Dwell, had removed articles from their sites.

I received a doggy leg-lean from a big fluffy shepherd on the subway recently and when the person holding the leash started apologizing what I said was "Oh, no, they're fine" but what I meant was "this is magic and I have been chosen; please do not interfere."
I love when a cat head-bonks you. So good. And a doggy leg-lean? Sublime stuff. No notes.

"Everyone - whether driving, walking or cycling has a role to play in keeping our community safe."
-Mayor Andrea Horwath

My question is simple: What about those who design, approve, build and maintain hostile road design? Do they have a role?
A crossing guard was killed by the driver of a dump truck yesterday. absolutely heartbreaking.
Look at our intersections, look how hostile these are for people/children - this is what we continue to build and defend at all costs. These aren't accidents, these are results. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

I was not expecting Canada to be involved in a penguin welfare controversy in London England, but it turns out every Canadian who has paid into the Canada Pension Plan (which is to say, had a job) is part owner of this.

Nothing like having to take time to fill out the transit company's feedback form to let them know that no, actually, this bus driver was doing a fine job, because you had to listen to an attention-seeking passenger loudly phone in a complaint that the rush hour Express bus wasn't express enough.

Wildlife crossings are a valuable tool in efforts to mitigate a small portion of the harm caused by roads, but they're also an expensive undertaking. That's why I love this story out of Idaho of one man who saw life-saving potential in an abandoned bridge: www.hcn.org/issues/57-11...

A one-seat Liberal minority with Elizabeth May retaining her seat is the exact scenario I was hoping for back on election night here in Canada, so 🤞
Dimitri Soudas, former Harper comms guy, told RadCan this morning that he's hearing Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux will cross the floor to the Liberals today.

If this happens, the Liberals are one seat short of a majority. You know what that means.

That's right.

Elizabeth May is Kingmaker.
