So I did a thing!

If you’d like to have my art pop up in your feed sporadically, follow my new art account 🎨

It’ll be a seemingly random collection of art covering #Netball #Cricket #ChronicIllness #Disability #pwME #MECFS #BloomScrolling #Nature #SciArt #Illustration #KidLitArt and more 😅

⬇️
Obligatory intro post!

I’ve decided it was time to have an account just for my #art.

You’ll find an eclectic mix of nature, cricket, netball, portraiture, chronic illness & disability… & whatever else takes my fancy that day!

My main medium is digital art, plus some photography & watercolour.

I was looking up portable air conditioners last night, you still need roughly $500 for the privilege of not suffering if your landlord hasn’t installed it. That on top of the cost of moving every 18 months? Window units are for some reason rare in Australia despite how easy they are to install.

"Physical Therapy Must Catch Up: Teaching ME/CFS is No Longer Optional"

Sallie Rediske MPT talks about her recent paper on the need to educate physical therapists (PTs) about ME/CFS. "Without education on #MECFS & #PEM, PTs may unintentionally cause setbacks, or long-term decline”

#CFS #PwME
Many physical therapy programs still don’t teach the realities of ME/CFS, including post-exertional malaise. It’s time physical therapy education catches up with the science. Read more in a new blog:

Important to note that bearing witness is something people have done since long before video existed. We bear witness by listening, but sharing the stories, by refusing to let them be distorted or ignored. We do not have to watch execution videos to do that.
Bearing witness to atrocities is important. But nobody should have to see that unprepared. And depending on your situation, it might be better to never see it.

So when is the Australian government going to update their smart traveller advice levels for the US, and more specifically for areas like Minnesota?

The page mentions nothing about ICE in any states, let alone Minnesota.

Is diplomatic fragility being prioritised over safety of Aussies?

Aurora webcams are also great tools for monitoring conditions near you and substorm phases. If the aurora is happening on a webcam at your latitude, it's likely visible from your location, too. I have a list of many webcams around the world on my site: go.theauroraguy.com/webcams

It's so cool that the argument for a long time surrounding NDIS was that Labor were the only government you could trust not to gut it & now they're automating funding decisions & moving towards more paternalistic policy aimed at "increasing independence" instead of getting people the help they need

@asherwolf.bsky.social I imagine you’re shocked by this development.

Hi there, I would like to talk about paywalls

Today I had a rather large article drop in Slate and there was a soft paywall. A lot of people commented upset about that paywall

Let's talk about:

a) how to get around paywalls
b) why you shouldn't be mad about them

Increasingly clear this bill should be voted down. Nothing this extreme should be rushed through parliament like this, especially when the genesis is just to appease pro-Israel lobby.

Looks like the Coalition won’t support, so question is will Greens reject or cave as usual and bail out Labor.

India is quite simply not a suitable host for international cricket. Everyone knows this but nobody will do anything about it.
USA fast bowler Ali Khan announced on his Instagram that his visa application for India has been rejected. Potentially other members of the USA squad also affected. Note that Khan, whilst born in Pakistan, is a US citizen and applied for his visa in that capacity.

It'a so smoky in Melbourne 😷😷

I was riding my bike home from the CBD, with an N95 mask on because the smoke was so thick. Yet I didn't see a single mask on my ride through the city or on the bike path!

But I saw numerous people going for a run in this haze!! So much for their health...

MASK UP!

Ive been running my 3 air purifiers 24/7. I had no idea there was even smoke until I went into my garage and could smell it so strongly!!! Mask up!!! Seal up your house as much as possible. Dont walk your dogs in this, especially if they are small.
Reminder that even if you can’t see or smell smoke, Melbourne & Victoria is being covered in a fine layer of bushfire ash.

Wear a P2 or N95 mask when you’re outside, as you’ll be breathing it in.

Even more important if you’re pregnant, have asthma, or otherwise medically vulnerable.
