1. A story. Please read.
Reposts hugely appreciated on this. You'll see why in a bit.
I was born in Pakistan and lived there until I was 4. My parents worked there as doctors. While we were there we were very close to a couple called Christine and Mike Miles.

"She states that “only 14.9 per cent of teachers were identified as being from an ethnic minority background" [implying this needs rectifying]"
Only 18% of people in England and Wales belong to an ethnic minority* background.
3.1% is not a worrying disparity.

How racist are British schools?
Kalwant Bhopal presents school as a terrible place to be an ethnic minority in her book Race and Education. The evidence suggests otherwise.

Tarjinder is right; primary schools don’t tend to PEX a child if they bring a knife in. We work with the child, family and relevant authorities to try to understand the reason why.
However, I wouldn’t want my child going to a secondary school that DIDN’T have a zero-tolerance policy on this.

Why Ofsted ditching deep dives is a mistake
The inspection system wasn’t perfect, argues former inspector Mark Enser, but are we running the risk of introducing something worse?

I am a FT teacher and have been asked to mentor a student 2nd school practice ( 2 terms). Apparently, I now need to do 20 hours training. ( several modules) to make sure I’m fit for purpose. This does not seem reasonable to me. I just did around 6 hours to mentor an in school trainee last year!!

AI has made me even more concerned. I don't know how much I can do about it but it worries me someone could use it to go "find all examples of where Ben has criticised the government" and there everything would be in a nanosecond. It's not I worry about this now, it's the future.

My trust in the stability and security of the future is declining a lot. I'm concerned that big companies or governments might use data in ways we now find unacceptable. I don't trust what we say now to hold in the years to come.

A lot of my older relatives have always been deeply concerned about providing data to government/big companies and for years I was sort of "oh bless them with their old paranoid ways" and now I've 180ed and won't even give my fingerprints for the cashless canteen.
ID cards now horrify me.

New from us on our latest AI trial.
We're dubious about AI feedback because of the error rate. Instead, we've got teachers to record verbal comments & then used AI to transcribe & combine them.
Quality human feedback - just quicker.
