Ksi Lisim Pipeleine is not a "nation building project". It is US private equity buying up real estate, telecoms &
energy infrastructure. They can only be successful through 🇨🇦 subsidies, tax breaks & grants. There is no future (& no great jobs) with LNG.

PM Carney: no taxpayer subsidies for American billionaires!
Donald Trump’s billionaire donors are pushing a new gas terminal on the coast of British Columbia. It would be 100% American owned – and built in Korea. BUT THEY WANT US TO PAY FOR IT.

@canadiangreens.bsky.social W/ our Cons moving further right, Liberals not meeting expectations of those that voted for them, NDP having its worst election ever...now is the chance for the Greens to really step up. We are not that different from the UK. Learn from them.

"global private sector investments last year of more than $2tn in green energy & low-carbon industry, dwarfing the $1tn poured into fossil fuels"

Green is the way forward and ...

Disruptive innovation is a term popularised by the American academic Clayton Christensen.

This is a prime example: learning effects lead to reduced cost of solar leading to more adoption resulting in more learning effects because of modularisation.

The richest 400 Americans gained enough new wealth in the past year to have provided every adult citizen with about $400 a month in universal basic income. That would cut poverty in half.

We are making a choice as a society to give a small number of people essentially infinite access to resources.

In Canada we do not have the same "free speech" as they do in America.
We have "freedom of expression" but it's rightly not absolute.
Some Canadians would do well to remember this.

Same here.
It’s just a rinse and repeat. "Well, if we want a strong economy, we need to implement/expand on any 'shortsighted and long term damaging projects/industries'...".
Funny how we've had a bad economy for about 50 years...

People want strong climate action. Unfortunately, because it has an immediate affect on their lives, people prioritise the general economy & the cost of living as their top concerns when asked. This gives politicians an excuse not to act or worse, actively fight against it.

It's very clear and simple, all over the world, time and time again, 'Basic Income pilot programs' prove that when people are given the ability to worry less about just surviving the day/week/month, they begin to thrive.

Christ. I sadly believe it but I hadn't heard that terrible new stat.
When governments, courts, etc. fail to take action against a very real threat to half a country's population, it can only get worse.

We are definitely behind a lot of countries in prioritising this worsening problem.

The only way to make housing truly affordable is to make it so that it's no longer an asset class. That's easier said than done, but taxing wealth, specifically taxing land value would do it, and balancing that with UBI so that people who own only one home and live in it aren't ruined by the change.
The REAL reason behind the housing crisis

It’s simple "Don't be a dick"

"History is best told as a story of organised crime...It is one group creating a monopoly on resources through the use of violence over a certain territory & population.” However, “They are cursed and this is because of inequality.”
scottsantens.com
"How a global collapse could be avoided: 'Don’t be a dick' is one of the solutions proposed, along with a move towards genuinely democratic societies and an end to inequality."

Inequality is a great beast of an enemy. To solve it, we need UBI and wealth taxes, and we need more direct democracy.
