One of the things about this study is that a lot of baby and toddler books are written in house, by editors. So the study reveals the whiteness of editorial in kidlit even if not explicitly. I translate books from Korean into English. I was shortlisted for and later judged the International Booker Prize. I have thirteen (?) books scheduled to be published over the next three years.

Getting a good access aide to work w, especially in difficult times, is an unbelievably wonderful thing for an artist.

I had a scary health wkend in Birmingham, preparing for a show,& am so grateful for an incredible access aide (if anyone ever needs a ref for that city, v happy to pass on details)

The best role for AI in alt text is as a series of prompts that can guide users through the alt text-writing process.

People don't have to be experts in the task.

Frankly outsourcing alt text to AI is fundamentally unfair to screenreader users. It says "you're not worth our time and effort".

ANNAH, INFINITE has reached POST Santa, my neighborhood bookshop in JKT! 💜 They actually printed out colour postcards w one of my ANNAH artworks, and printed handwritten msgs I wrote for POST customers on the back… and made a stand w all my books.

On #ITD2025, I’m completing a translation from Indonesian, and presenting in an all-day internal conference held by a European film archive, on archival materials from Indonesia.

And also? I’m reminding global majority translators: protect yr time, yr health, and yr energy as much as is possible.
