"Chemtrails" conspiracy theorists are using the US federal government shutdown to advance -- and argue about -- their baseless ideas that aircraft condensation trails show the government "spraying" weather-manipulating chemicals.

SCOOP: The only offshore wind farm backed by Republican lawmakers narrows in on a new, definitive state date: March 2026.

Trump promised “no new windmills” on his watch.

But, in just 6 months, America’s largest offshore wind farm will plug into the grid. 🔌

Dominion Energy’s 2.6 GW project off Virginia’s coast is progressing fast. The utility has a new, more definitive target to plug into the grid: March 2026.

And in terms of where to find hope, we find it in action.

Pinned to the top of my feed are the 6 most effective things an individual can do to catalyze climate action: bsky.app/profile/kath...

I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love.

Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below!

We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚
A list of the most effective ways an individual can catalyze change at the scale we need to effectively tackle climate change, based on social science.

Two of the most common climate misconceptions I see, even among knowledgeable folks, are that (1) most people aren't worried about climate change, and (2) if they were, they'd act.

Not true! Data show (1) most people are worried, but (2) they won’t act if they don’t know what to do-and most don’t.
A map of the world showing how levels of worry in most countries are greater than 70%. Source: Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, International Public Opinion on Climate Change, 2023.

🌊🌀Six homes collapsed in North Carolina's Outer Banks in the last 24 hours. AFP explores what's driving such a clear trend. Yes, it is natural erosion, scientists say, and climate change is making it worse. u.afp.com/SWCr
"When storms are impacting the coast so frequently, there is no time for natural recovery of beaches and dunes to take place," said USGS OCEANOGRAPHER, KARA DORAN, on September 26, 2025

🌊🌀Five houses just fell -- yet again -- into the ocean in the Outer Banks. Here's my latest on what causes such a dramatic trend on North Carolina's coasts. Yes, it's natural erosion -- and climate change is making it worse. u.afp.com/SWCr

🌊Managed coastal retreat is the only path forward -- something that experts say is not happening sustainably in the United States at this time.

🌊These oceanfront rentals or secondary residences devoured by the sea are just one striking visual -- and yes, an often viral one -- reflective of a much larger issue. North Carolina's coastal plains are experiencing undeniable pressure from accelerated SLR, local agents tell me.

🌊Because barrier islands naturally move, some are quick to dismiss any anthropogenic footprint on this trend. But climate change influences what's happening in the Outer Banks, experts say. Yes, shoreline erosion is a natural phenomenon. And climate change is putting pressure on these systems.

🌀⛈️It's hurricane season. In September, another house on Cape Hatteras National Seashore collapsed in to the sea -- the 12th in just five years, sparking discussions online on what causes such a clear trend. u.afp.com/SWEp

Now Major Hurricane Humberto's rate of intensification of 55 mph in 24 hours is just short of the Extreme Rapid Intensification threshold. It follows major hurricanes Erin and Gabrielle. It's the first time since 1935 that the first three hurricanes of the year all reach major status.

It’s a tough time for political satire in America.

It’s also a tough time for clean energy.

I’ve been thinking a lot about Samuel Jackson’s “motherf-cking windfarms” ad. So, I finally wrote about it — and the future of climate-focused comedy in our democracy👇
