Taking the Coast Guard rescue helicopter out of Newport is dangerous and senseless, especially as we go into crabbing season.

I’ve been fighting like hell to push back on Trump’s move and bring this critical helicopter back to Newport where it belongs. Lives are at stake!
Coast Guard helicopter must remain in Newport, federal judge says in temporary order
"The danger presented by the lack of rescue helicopter coverage justifies” the granting of a temporary order “on an expedited basis,” the judge wrote.

Where's the progressive push back on this anti-tax campaign / gubernatorial gambit? Even Trump’s gov't closed DOGE, yet Oregon's anti-gov't extremists want to drag us backward by defunding our transportation system.

I feel like a lone voice in the wilderness on this. www.opb.org/article/2025...
Opponents of Oregon gas tax increase say they’ve cleared key hurdle to let voters weigh in
The initiative needed roughly 78,000 signatures by Dec. 30 to qualify for next year’s election. Backers say they have more than 150,000.

The goal in Portland should not be measured in number of shelter beds, but how many people are on the street. There are more people living on the street now than a year ago. An abject failure in spite of good intentions.

Mayor Wilson seems to be doing more to further destabilize unhoused people than he is to actually address housing.

How does it help to monetarily punish people who can’t afford rent?

@mayorkwilson.bsky.social you are deafeningly quiet about answering this. Portland wants solutions - not cruelty.

Your lifetime of FPDR retirement pay is set by looking back at the last "year" of employment pay. But some 12-month "years" have an extra payday. If you retire at the end of a (rare) 27-payday "year" you will automatically make more in retirement than retiring at the end of a (normal) 26-payday year

People keep acting like shutting down an ICE facility or yanking some permit is some huge step toward justice, but it’s really not. Losing a building doesn’t abolish ICE any more than moving a priest to a different parish stopped abuse, or a cop quitting and getting rehired somewhere else.

Ryan and Clark have been reticent to do ANYTHING on ICE.

No other city has revoked an ICE permit.

And yet the people shouldering all the blame according to these activists? The women of color on council.
I think it’s honestly disgusting and deeply unserious that the Revoke the Permit people have clipped videos of my women colleagues eating pizza at the dais as some kind of shaming tool, which is now being used by right-wing media to harass them in misogynistic ways. Congrats everyone.
