Anyone currently involved in federal immigration enforcement, every officer, every bureaucrat, every lawyer, every judge, is a member of the most evil group of people this country has seen since Reconstruction. Darkness personified, every one. Doing this to children is beyond depraved.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

anyway, it turns out that like half the people talking about this are talking about gavin newsom, who is never going to be president, and i am confident enough about this that i simply refuse to offer an opinion about whether i'd vote for him if i had to — i won't have to
this isn't a binary choice; it is a candidate's responsibility to get votes, and it is the citizen's responsibility to vote for the candidate who will produce the best outcomes (or avoid the worst). you can argue all day about harris' campaign but citizens chose trump, an objectively terrible choice
The inversion of electorial responsibilities by American libeerals is extremely bizarre to me. It's a mentality that Democrats cannot fail voters, the voters fail Democrats. If "your guy" didn't win it has nothing to do with the guy and everything to do with a disobedient electorate.

The SAVE Act is an election power grab that could block millions of eligible voters.

Let’s be clear: we’ve already seen U.S. citizens detained by ICE despite having proof of citizenship. Now we’re supposed to trust this same government to police paperwork at the ballot box? tinyurl.com/yhwj7b77
New SAVE Act Bills Would Still Block Millions of Americans From Voting
The “show your papers” requirement is an attack on the freedom to vote.

Prosecutors began investigating Renee Good's killing, then Washington told them to stop.

Federal prosecutors had a warrant to collect evidence from Good's vehicle, but Trump leaders said to drop it. About a dozen prosecutors have since departed.

Judge Dana Douglas, about Judges Edith Jones and Kyle Duncan:

"The majority seems to be unable to imagine what it might mean to be detained ... [and] to require the services of a federal habeas corpus lawyer to show that one ... deserves to see the outside of a detention center again."
This from Douglas is so very on point — and not at all subtle.

With Trump once again blaming Black cities for "voter fraud," it's worth revisiting our piece about why this is a playbook as old as the nation --- and how it makes these accusations more believable to Whites:

Everything is awful but if you subscribe to Law Dork, you already understand how out-of-line tonight's Fifth Circuit ruling is. www.lawdork.com
This is a very, very bad decision from one of the two Reagan judges left on the Fifth Circuit, joined by one of the two most extreme Trump appointees on the court.

And, it is about the issue I walked through at Law Dork earlier this week, in the context of Minnesota: www.lawdork.com/i/186796727/...

on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.

What a disgrace.

ICE may have handed a suspect in the largest jewelry heist in American history a free pass by deporting him before he ever faced trial.

This is the result of Stephen Miller’s chaos. Reckless mismanagement that undermines public safety and makes a mockery of the justice system.

As Citizens United, Shelby County, Trump v US, Noem vs Vasquez Perdomo & a bunch of other cases have shown, the core requirement for being a conservative judge is the inability to imagine that things that will obviously happen as a result of your decisions could possibly happen

Big congrats to the Trump admin for walking themselves into an order that they declare, under oath, what actions they have been taking to mobilize ICE in Springfield, Ohio and South Florida. Whoops.
NEW: In response to DOJ's request for a stay pending appeal of her Haiti TPS order, Judge Reyes questions the "suspect" nature of DOJ's "irreparable harm" arguments, orders DOJ to file a declaration about what actions DHS has taken "in expectation" Haiti TPS would end, and sets a hearing for 2/12.
