Just yesterday I wanted a paragraph of text from a newspaper article translated from German to French. Dropped it in a LLM, pasted into chat... And realised it was not just semi-doggerel. It had flipped meaning and now was saying the opposite from the original.
Yo, historians, what the actual ****?

I've seen how LLMs handle "history." This is... not good.

Ein Polizeiprotokoll von 2006 beweist, dass Martin Sellner, Chef der Identitären, damals in Neonazi-Aktivitäten verstrickt war.

The beautiful white village of Grazalema (Andalusia, Spain) had already been evacuated because of terrible amounts of rain. January had 1295 mm, an all-time high monthly total. But after today's 140 mm (and counting), February now already stands at 1169 mm, that's 510 mm (78%) more than ever before!

Irrelevant. Even IF AI WAS more reliable than a human MedTech/driver/nurse/teacher, WHEN it makes a "mistake" we will not tolerate it, we will DEMAND someone takes the blame and responsibility. That's our human nature. Which is why AI will not succeed in those roles.

When white supremacist bigots throw a tantrum because they've been forced to confront reality, there are always enablers who will say that the expression of reality is a controversy, or divisive. The implication is that we should change reality to suit the whims of the bigots. Absolutely not.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
