rubio’s invocation of “western civilization” — defined here as racial and religious chauvinism, if not outright supremacy — is a rejection of the more egalitarian and universalistic notions that came out of america’s two revolutions.

Things keep going wrong all the time. People die in "self-driving cars" that wouldn't have died otherwise.

"Oh but it may make driving safer eventuall-"

IRRELEVANT! Probably false, but also irrelevant! Because there will BE errors, and we need to BLAME someone for those.

Gee, Universal Basic Income recoups more than it costs AND the recipients are happier and healthier.

Hmmm. Where have I seen those results before? Oh yes, in every other goddam pilot study of UBI for more than a decade. Ireland joins Finland in at least making a start.

Just yesterday I wanted a paragraph of text from a newspaper article translated from German to French. Dropped it in a LLM, pasted into chat... And realised it was not just semi-doggerel. It had flipped meaning and now was saying the opposite from the original.
Yo, historians, what the actual ****?

I've seen how LLMs handle "history." This is... not good.
