Today I revised a poem. It’s published but I dislike it
At first it defied me. So I fought hard & tore it limb from limb. Reassembly of scattered members produced something even more monstrous. Surgery & grafting followed. Then: improvement! Almost rejuvenation. New offspring
Soon I will loathe it

Trust me, I've been doing this totally accidentally in a burrito costume for 7 years. I’ve intimidated the Paris Review, gotten grilled by the New Yorker, and stumbled ass backwards into the Simon and Schuster offices and I'm telling you none of this is real. All of these assholes are making it up
