I'm an advocate of conventions and face to face events, but I'm coming to the reality that cons aren't viable in the longer term. With library shows, many people aren't up for buying new books from authors, and it starts feeling stifling curating books for family audiences.

A website that's becoming one of my favorite writing resources is OneLook Thesaurus. Not only can it give me alternative and related words, but it can also find specific single words for longer phrases, descriptions and definitions that are at the tip of my tongue but can't think of!

This is why I'm against using gen ai for anything at all, not even name generators or randomizers. It coasts off me not knowing, understand or take the time to understand other people's jobs and the work they put in to learn it. Your time ain't so precious and superior that you can't learn.

Well-meaning adults will tell young men that kindness is all that matters. But boys have eyes and ears, they can observe how the world works, and who gets rewarded. "Competent and kind" is the ideal but if society has to settle for just one of them, it'll take the former.
