Talk at me about what gets you passionate.
That moment when you've ordered 1:00 am dominos and you're half way through the side salad you ordered out of obligation for vegetables, and then you open up your entre, and for the life of you, you can't remember what the actual fuck it is

When you're multiboxing Olympics windows on your dual-monitor PC, and got replays and live broadcast timed just right to show two USA gold medal wins at the same time.

The opening ceremonies cheer for our athletes and boo of J.D. Vance really rescued these Olympics for me.

Just started my Hades 2 playthrough, what kinds of boons can I expect from The Quad God?

Jesus this AI animation is really disheartening.

I swear there was a big crowd pop when Team USA first got announced and entered and then there was some booing right as the broadcast cut to Vance? Is anyone able to confirm whether they showed Vance on the jumbotron and the crowd was reacting to that?

TIL Iceland only has a population of 400K, and I was blown away that they only have 4 Olympic qualifiers. I would have thought they would be in every nordic/biathlon event, at least. So it's pretty funny that The Mighty Ducks 2 cast them as the Big Bad vs. the underdog Americans.

"Yes, I did."

Ian McKellen's Shakespeare bit on Colbert is rightly having a moment, because it's a master of an art in practice and heartbreakingly relevant, but the thing that grabs me is how he requests a dialogue prompt from the audience and then uses it to lock in harder than anyone has ever locked in.

Honestly, most of these are pretty good guesses!
Please enjoy this hilariously bad video of Aliyah Boston guessing NFL teams.

These guys always do this with the word "hypothetical." Yeah, we want you to think a step ahead. Obviously! Use your imagination, game out possibilities and contingencies, and explain to people who elected you what you would do. You don't play chess by ignoring what the next move might be.
Reporter: Do you plan to apologize to the family of Alex Pretti?

Vance: For what?

The Vikings heroically put on a dogshit, anti-entertaining show to ruin Epstein's night out. They plopped down the mother of all turds so Epstein would have to linger in the miasma of suck. Give Josh Freeman the Medal of Freedom.
This was probably the worst NFL game of the modern era for those who might not recall. Vikings QB Josh Freemen completed 20 of 53 pass attempts for 236 yards and an INT. Never seen anything quite like it.
steve tisch invited jeffrey epstein to the 2013 Vikings-Giants MNF game, which you may remember

Feels like the fix here is to pass laws outlawing the use of the word "warrant" to identify documents that are anything other than judicial warrants. It's clear this whole "administrative warrant" thing is yet more bad faith bullshit to try to exploit people who aren't law geeks, which is most of us
Again, this is FALSE. Administrative warrants are NOT signed by an immigration judge (or any judge at all). They are generated and signed by ICE officers themselves with no external oversight whatsoever.

Here is a blank sample warrant. Note who signs off on it; an "immigration officer."

I have zero commentary on this race, I just want to point out Republican candidate Leigh Wambsganss has a Dr. Suess-ass name. I have never seen anything like it before. I was convinced it had to be a typo. How is that pronounced? Wahmz-ganz?
Wow, buckle up.

The early vote just came in Tarrant County, and Democrat Taylor Rehmet is up 56% to 44% in the special election for a Texas state Senate seat.

This is a seat that went for Trump by 17%. This would be a huge upset.

This is already 45K votes.

Ray Ratto is not from the Philadelphia area and is almost never complimentary of it, it's sports teams, and its population, but he definitely Gets It in a similar way to McQuade, and that is a compliment to them both.

Sixers Enact Intentional, Then Unintentional Tribute To The Late Great Dan McQuade | Defector

The issue with these cases is the evidence and public sentiment both challenge the notion that the officers' actions are objectively reasonable. It's supposed to be juries that make that reasonability call at trial, right? I'm good with this language, go ahead and prosecute!

When I explain to people the challenge the Closed Captioning writers like myself have with automates systems, I say something like "the clankers can't do what I do better than I can, but they can do 'eh, good enough' and do it cheaper, and the people in charge of the Capital don't care if /1

Obviously Philadelphia fandom is not the most Important thing about Dan's life, but he was the best at simultaneously observing and living this manic, stupid, beautiful American subculture. Jesus Christ this hurts at a time when I really, really didn't need more hurt.

The media have to figure out how to highlight obvious lies, because it matters that someone is lying. If evidence contradicts claims, don't just stop after writing that statement, take the next step. Write "those claims are either mistaken or lies."
Calling it “two different stories” puts them on the same level. One version is supported by the evidence and one is a made-up version intended to acquit the ones who did it despite the lack of evidence.
The story is not that there are two conflicting versions of what happened.
The story is that the federal government is lying about what happened.
There is plenty of evidence.
Your job, our job, is to sift that evidence and describe what actually happened ffs.

Looks like one of the agents had empty hands, grabs around Pretti's waist, pulls away a gun, starts to retreat with it, then a couple of the other guys start shooting him.
Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

Walz's remark about creating a log of evidence for future prosecution of ICE agents is all great, sure, but the BCA guy said the BCA were blocked from the crime scene even after they went and got a warrant, which they don't have to do to investigate a public space. That's contempt of court, right?
January 24, 2026 at 9:51 PM
I don't know if "proud of you" is the correct sentiment to be feeling about this, but I'm proud of Nur-D.
January 24, 2026 at 9:43 PM
Anyone in any media - Minneapolis, national, independent - able to answer: if the DHS has left the crime scene, does that mean the MPD and/or BCA are controlling the scene now? Who is controlling the crime scene evidence? Did the DHS guys all grab up their shell casings and split?
January 24, 2026 at 8:37 PM
I know this is just one thread of this story and I know the big picture is complicated, but I want media to stay on a tick-tock of jurisdictional conflict here and who is getting to control evidence.
January 24, 2026 at 7:51 PM
Seems big if the MPD and BCA are securing the scene and evidence now, and if the protestors are letting them do it.
