I wish my efforts to make things better went viral like my recent snark complaining about fascists did.

I have a podcast called Future Mending Radio about the people and organizations who are solving multiple problems at once. Clothing swaps, food co-ops, ethical chocolate, bike parties.
Hey look, politicians who actually believe in things and want to help people care about climate.
The climate crisis won’t wait and neither will we. With this team, we’ll meet it head-on.

Fascinating that China now has a smaller percentage of people in extreme poverty than the US, and that in the US, extreme poverty has increased since 1990.

1. This federal-Alberta pipeline MOU is even worse than I expected. Even before we get to the pipeline:
- exempts AB from net zero electricity reg (AB produces 44% of all electricity-related GHGs in Canada).
- delays methane reg by 5 years (75% redn by 2035 rather than 2030.

Trudeau bought a pipeline for Alberta and they absolutely hated him for it. I truly don't understand the Liberal desire to bend over backwards and destroy the planet for Alberta votes that they will never get.

I keep saying, Google intentionally making its search worse is a world-historical fumble, and it's a huge opportunity for so many others across the internet, if they'll just seize it..
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.

So, below is EU President von der Leyen saying that the EU is "not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions."

And here is the Saudi envoy to COP30 saying exactly the same thing.

I'm telling you: climate politics are unified around the lie that we can keep fossil fuels & still deal w climate anyway.

At this point, we should either get rid of the notwithstanding clause or the whole charter of rights and freedoms.

I'm on team charter, but these premiers abusing the notwithstanding clause should have to choose as well.
