McClain is constructing a straw man here. No one expects an E-4 to know whether order they've been given is lawful. The UCMJ outlines a process for Service Members to consult w/JAG attorney if they believe an order may not be lawful.

Not for nothing but it's transparently obvious that Bondi would not want to enforce FARA because she was required to register under it as a foreign agent for Qatar. Seems like a conflict of interest for her to be exercising authority here.
This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.
