how did we reach the point where if everyone who named their companies after things from the lord of the rings died this world would instantly become a much better place

deltarune measurably improved my life because earlier this year i was like "i should probably take better care of my health if i want to play chapters 3 and 4" and now replace those with chapter 5

Why is a class action lawsuit against Amazon alleging Prime Day is a scam getting zero coverage by mainstream media?

Could it be because media outlets get a cut when a customer purchases a Prime Day product when clicking through their featured deals?

UPDATE: Lawsuit alleges Prime Day is a fraud
The federal class action lawsuit has been ignored by major media outlets, which continue to promote Prime Day deals.

my problem with leddit is that so much of its userbase is the worst kind of person on the internet but then you discover a subforum called “ kitchencels “ and it’s about people lamenting their broken love lives while posting poorly lit pictures of food. and then you can’t call the platform sauceless

Koizumi was a crucial figure in making both Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask go down their strange, wistful, dreamlike storytelling paths.

Koizumi and Eiji Aonuma co-directed Majora's Mask together--

Koizumi on writing the story for Link's Awakening, 2007.

PEOPLE:
- Yoshiaki Koizumi, age 39. Writer for A Link to the Past and Link’s Awakening.
- Shigeru Miyamoto, age 55. Producer of A Link to the Past and Link’s Awakening.

QUOTE:
Koizumi: Back then, the people who wrote the manuals often became the people who came up with most of the backstory for the entire game. The first real game work that I did was on Link's Awakening. … I came in to write the manual, as I did on [A Link to the Past]. But they had nothing in place. So I ended up making an entire story to go along with the game. The dream, the island, that was all mine.

And so that was my first experience doing the kind of work that we would now call "event design." But there were not too many people at the time with expertise in that area, so I really had free reign to do what I wanted, so long as I didn't make Miyamoto angry.

steam player numbers can be useful but i hate how it's absolutely ruined game discussion in lot of places

i still see people claim Sparking Zero is a "dead game" despite confirmed support because its like 99% of games and drops numbers hugely after launch

I’m always saying the thing holding back mass Linux adoption is that one niche window manager isn’t compiled for RISC-V

Incredible NYT headline and subhead where the writer has to remind you that this is a bad thing lol

Media literacy is being able to understand why that last part is included here, but not for any story about the US abandoning its clean energy initiatives.

the framework forums are imploding. its almost as if people with the kind of disposable income to pay premium for a repairable product lean left-wing and paying a fashy dude to maintain an open source project with your earnings is a bad idea

every time i use a distro that isn't nixos i quickly remember why i use nixos because dear GOD linux requires so many tiny tweaks to get something like a fucking pihole working and then you'll spend 8 days looking for the 8 magical sysctl invocations that will get it to stop FUCKING you
