Kirkus had lovely things to say about BEYOND SEVEN FORESTS.

The narrative of exceptional Ukrainian resilience is one of the most harmful tropes I’ve seen during this war.

Yes, we refuse to give up. Yes, we have picnics in -15°C. Yes, we keep living, drinking coffee, and even laughing occasionally, but all of this stems from a lack of choice.

At our anti-ICE protest this week, one guy driving past rolled down his window to tell us (reasonably, I'm sure he thought) that no one who came here "legally" had anything to worry about.

There are still people deluded enough to think this is about legality.

Happy to share a bit of the positive review from Booklist for BEYOND SEVEN FORESTS! The full review will be out February 1.

“McCrina has created characters with depth and complicated backstories . . . [A] thoughtful human account of the impact of war.”

At this point, it's going to take generations' worth of hard work to undo the damage trump has done to our relations with our allies.

I’m Ukrainian , not a U.S. citizen, but I’m reacting to what’s happening in Minnesota now because I believe the feeling you are seen and your troubles are seen is one of the most precious things we can give each other. as a Ukrainian , i know this first hand.

Katy Dycus and I spoke about the Prokhaskos’ WHO WILL MAKE THE SNOW? some months ago. This winter, as Russia relentlessly bombards cities and energy stations, plunging Ukraine into freezing darkness, the book feels more necessary than ever. @jenniferlcroft.bsky.social worldkidlit.org/2026/01/12/i...

Will the people clutching pearls about the mayor's f-bomb clutch their pearls about this one, I wonder?
SHOCK CELL PHONE VIDEO: Renee Good's final words to her murderer: “That’s fine dude, I’m not mad at you.”

Yup. It's not "trump's occupation of Venezuela."

We've spent years trying to get people to recognize *russia's invasion of Ukraine, *russia's genocide in Ukraine, *russia's kidnapping of Ukrainian children. Not just putin's.

No shirking our own responsibility. That goes for Congress and all of us.

Absolutely insane to see so many posts today claiming Trump’s decision to grab Maduro in Venezuela will somehow embolden Putin to do likewise in Ukraine.

NEWSFLASH: Putin has already been trying to kill Zelenskyy since the very start of the invasion and has utter contempt for international law

Every argument supporting what we just did in Venezuela falls apart when you remember that not quite five months ago, American soldiers were on their knees rolling out a red carpet for *putin*.

There are some horrible analogies flying around today. A reminder: the US kidnapping of Maduro in no way justifies, vindicates, or lifts responsibility from the Ru govt or the Ru people. Their war against Ukraine continues to be an unprovoked act of aggression with war crimes and genocidal intent.
