It seems there are two main reasons things haven’t gone completely to shit in the US: 1. Lawyers and the courts; 2. Journalists and the media. Most of us can’t do anything about the first, but we can support journalism. Stop complaining about paywalls and subscribe to news & donate to public media.

I would add that the curious goal of this admin in more natural gas production seems to be primarily for exporting, rather than putting it on the U.S. grid, an untenable position when prices are likely to rise significantly.

I agree with just about everything from this piece from the NYT Editorial Board, though they skip over how the costs of transmission is a significant contributor to price rises, however the gist of the piece—that we need all forms of power to keep prices down and this Admin is doing the opposite. 💯

In 2023 Austria sued the EU Commission for the inclusion of nuclear energy in the Green Taxonomy. At the time they were supported by a bulwark of EU countries & environmental NGOs that opposed nuclear energy. Honestly, it looked like they might win.

But today, that whole landscape has changed.
