I’ve been thinking about how to best explain myself to y’all who are new to me, and I think I’m going to do a thing from Twitter where I repost 20 books that have had a big influence on me, but without any commentary. So here we go!

Meeeee toooooo!

It’s not ant. There’s a whole “u” in there getting ignored!!

“Ant” is short for Anthony. You calling your aunt Anthony Peaches.

(As you see, I have strong opinions about insignificant stuff)
when folks say “ain’t tee” for auntie <<<<<

Yeah, I really think the 2 lessons I would share with people in other cities that come from the raids this fall in Chicago are: 1) your neighbors really are your first, last and only line of defense; and 2) local media are indispensable in helping us understand what’s happening in our communities.
It’s important to note that every single one of these Chicago ICE/ CBP stories DID receive massive coverage by our local media. It was local press together with vigilant residents that documented & then unraveled nearly every lie about the incidents as well.
Ask yourself why there wasn’t this level of wall to wall coverage for this shooting wgme.com/news/local/i...

A reminder from a hotel continental breakfast: oatmeal is just Western congee. You can make it savory.

Okay so I just learned that they make consumer grade portable hot pot griddles and I need one for science.

And by science, I mean I wanna create a soul food hot pot situation.

Of course I’m wide awake because I had a dream that I got accepted into all the programs I’ve applied for and then I had BBQ with a bunch of strangers that were being overly familiar.

Gonna jump into the ocean; I don’t know how or why but I made a bunch of revisions, saved, and none of the revisions are present!

NEW from me - NSF cancels grant scheme for social science research.

Seems the NSF quietly archived ALL calls for DDRIG grants in the SBE directorate. This is a massive blow for PhD students wanting to do cutting-edge social science research. 🏺🧪

So for Thanksgiving this year, my in-laws paid for my partner and I, plus her sister’s family, to go on a cruise. We’re on our way to Orlando for that now, but it’s occurring to me that this will be the first Thanksgiving in my 37 years where I won’t have a home cooked meal.

This is the first Thanksgiving for Sophie & Colin Hortman without their parents, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman who were assassinated along with the family dog in an act of political murder. National guards troops were not deployed to the state in response.

I don’t think what I’m thinking is going to make people very happy: this is Butler’s “gender is a doing, not a being” in action. Obvs the progressive version has individuals deciding what they want to do and then labeling themselves (and being labeled by others as such).
So many men go through life like that. You can play poker because it's right-coded, you can't enjoy fruity alcoholic drinks because they're women-coded, you can't lick an ice cream cone because it's gay-coded. All day, every day, choosing and judging things based on coding for narrow norms.

Like a bagel is just Special Bread. I promise that I'm smart.
