If we live in the same city & are both on this app, especially if we align on many things...

I would like not to be in an antagonistic or oppositional dynamic as community members.

I will take you in good faith & hope for reciprocity.

In keeping with the metaphor, though, this is just the brown sugar we're working with right now. There's more, unopened brown sugar in the kitchen. We even have a couple other kinds of sugar, some currently being used & kept in other secure containers—plus extra yet unopened.

We have an oft-reused gallon ziplock with an open, kinda hardened 1/3 bag of brown sugar in it.

I just took it out of the cupboard,
& stuck to the bag was half a clothespin —not securing it, just... sticking to the side.

If that ain't symbolic of trying to hold it together rn...😅

What's that you say? It's the second week of Advent and you haven't had a mariachi band in Santa hats on a flatbed truck followed by unhinged twinkle light bedecked fire trucks?

#Albuquerque #NM has you covered.

So much to love here.

I think this is a really important thing about libraries that many people may not realize. not only not tracking, but ideally really making an effort to maintain privacy on hold shelves as well. Corporations and many government entities are attacking our privacy; support libraries in preserving it.

it’s so weird to think about how sad food would be in the rest of the world without foods indigenous to the Americas

it’d be interesting to see folks in europe do a pre-columbian exchange restaurant, like their Owamni

Don't be that household.
Clear your walk.
I need to start personally shaming the able-bodied families in my neighborhood who clear their three-car-wide driveway, but don’t touch their sidewalk all effing winter.

Yes, I’ve looked up the city ordinances and I don’t see anything in Hugo. I would be THAT GUY.

We are staying in this cold pattern with more "do I really have to go clear that, it's not even an inch" snows.

The snow Tuesday evening/night is a more clear-cut shovelable snow, especially along and north of I-94.

I'll have snow totals out Sunday evening.

Clear your walk. Better for you, better for your neighbors, just clear it.

Th3 light stuff clears fast!
And yes, if you have the ability, clear the light snow so it doesn’t turn to ice after people walk on it.

We're on track for a 2,000 whistle day tomorrow.

That's 2,000 MORE neighbors getting whistles to help protect our community.

We are overwhelmed in the best way.

Julius Campbell is a WWII veteran who turns 100 next month and still walks to his post each day to help Milwaukee students cross safely. That's 30 years of protecting children and showing what service truly means. We honor him and give him his flowers while he can receive them.

Thank you, 3D printer friends. We cried. Community care from far and wide.

Good one
That’s a new dinner party conversation: Who is someone that you hate so much that, if given the time, energy, and crew, you’d produce a 4-part documentary on them?
