For example, it had basically no impact on me when Joann closed bc ive been thrifting my sewing supplies for years, and on the rare occasion I don’t have what I need I go to the local quilt shop or look on eBay. When youve already changed yr habits it’s much easier to deal w system changes.

Hey, I bet you thought I was done with election blogging for the year but NO. Here's my post about the special election in 64A which is happening in ONE WEEK. (The primary is in one week, but that's the real election.)

People are going to die because of the pending insurance premium hikes. I know the terrain of discourse is inconsistent and goes through a tumble cycle every 24 hours, but I really think we need to hone in on this reality and drive it home for people.

A huge night for Democrats:

—They flip Miami's mayorship.
—They flip a state House district in Georgia that had voted Trump by 13%.
—They keep Albuquerque's mayorship, while the liberal faction flips city council.
—And they get big overperformances (+18 & +22) in 2 Florida specials.

Holy shit this is a fucking emergency

Help me help out my neighbors, please
UPDATE — For those who want to help, there’s now a way to donate directly to the 7500 South Shore Tenants Union to help with emergency relocation costs as residents “vacate in one of the snowiest winters in Chicago’s history.”

Details in our story.

Masked federal agents are storming into neighborhoods, detaining people (regardless of status), assaulting constitutional observers, & pointing live weapons at unarmed civilians - while their lawyers seek to undermine due process.

Nothing about this is about safety.

And it’s costing us *billions*

We are hearing powerful testimony at City Hall on the strengthened separation ordinance.

It’s clear our community wants to ensure to its full strength that the City of Minneapolis does not enforce federal immigration laws nor assist ICE in any shape or form.

We support our immigrant neighbors.

It will be difficult for a GOP candidate to win *against* his endorsement.

And that endorsement will be a general election liability if current trends continue.

Of note: the President did not endorse in VA's elections this year, and was largely absent in NJ despite endorsing the GOP candidate. 🧵
President Trump’s sway among the Republicans who are seeking Minnesota’s highest office was fully apparent during a gubernatorial candidate forum.

defence manufacturing means making bombs and guns. do we want Canada to "become a global leader" in making bombs and guns? who are we going to murder with these bombs and guns?
Canada can become a global leader in defence manufacturing, and we’re taking action to help companies scale up.

That means thousands of new career opportunities making the defence equipment that keeps Canadians and our allies safe.

Reupping this because today's issue talked about how the face of #menopause (when it's talked about at all) tends to skew very heavily white.

But it included a link to a site specifically for women of color going through menopause!

We can as a state choose leaders who see the President as praiseworthy, and embrace a leadership & policies that may not be dissimilar from Scott Walker-era Wisconsin.

Or we can maintain current leadership - knowing 2026-30 will be a time of significant change and uncertainty.

Let's choose wisely.

No matter the exact dynamics, it's safe to say the 2026 MN elections will be a referendum on sitting leaders - in DC and in St. Paul and their ability to meet the needs of their constituents. I don't expect it will be an easy run for either party - and it's critical that folks get engaged early.

3. Has MnDOT explored a slower speed parkway in the trench with housing/commercial/park development opportunities and multiple new bicycle, transit and pedestrian bridge reconnections over the trench? If not, why not?
