Gloryholes are about helping your neighbors come together even if you don't recognize them. It's about community.

The twin cities needs more gloryholes.
Local guy tremendously impressed that the Smitten Kitten is doing all of this amazing mutual aid work but also now skeptical about earlier claims that they don’t have the capacity to run a gloryhole.

One difference between 2020 and now (there are many) is that moderate and conservative Dems were able to convince themselves it was a few bad apples* and the problem could be solved via training or culture changes or whatever.

I'm at a gay bar in Palm springs and there is a piece of advertising that screams ai generated and I'm so disappointed.

This is, literally, the entire twin cities. And it's not improving.
gotta be honest, dawg: if I promised to do something for you before last Wednesday I'm really gonna need you to remind me

I just realized that Schumer and Jeffries are probably just getting their advice from ai.
We already have better Senators who could lead in place of Chuck Schumer, but to help illustrate the severity of this situation, I've compiled the following list of better messengers for Democrats:
• a Furby
• cuttings from a pothos plant
• Magic 8 Ball
• SmarterChild
• my dog

Even if the status quo isn't safe or comfortable it's at least familiar which is enough for some.
This was Pritzker's calculation, too. If I order them to shoot and they don't, nobody really knows what day two of that looks like.

Nobody knows what day two looks like if they do, either.
Horrifying to realize that the reason that no blue state governor has activated that National Guard or local police force against the feds is literally, like - if you try to do that and the national guard or police doesn't listen to you or turns against you, you're not really governor any more

I do not love that somebody is smoking weed on the patio of this bar. I can't do anything about it other than go inside or leave but I don't love it regardless.

Capital must serve the people, not the reverse.
Cecil Smith, MHA (landlord lobby), putting his argument against an eviction moratorium in the least palatable terms possible: "Chilling effects on capital flows to our market."

"Even this discussion is damaging our ability to attract resources for future development."

I'm enjoying this book but also can tell I won't enjoy this chapter so that's unfortunate.

Occurs to me how glad I am that Soren is my council member rather than either josh or Andrea at this moment

I fly home in a few days and is Lyft even a viable option to get home from the airport? I could take the train partway but it goes near the whipple building so that seems not great right now.

What a bizarre timeline

Ice is doing what it's designed to do.

That doesn't mean we need to accept it
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”

They're going to put him on permanent disability and give him a max pension and a medal for injuries that didn't happen
federal officials are now claiming that Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who killed Renee Good, "suffered internal bleeding"

Because I am extremely Like That I'm going to take 15 minutes today and get my stuff in this hotel room at least a little bit organized.

Not the point here but I really wish the top circle didn't make me think of the MN flag at first glance.
The number of federal agents is "close to the total headcount of sworn officers among the region’s largest 10 law enforcement agencies and equals nearly one agent for every 1,000 of the Twin Cities’ 3.2 million residents."

I expect MN to have two ice out days this year when normally we only get one.

We can do better than moderate solutions.
Starting to believe that maybe Americans won't settle for the moderate solutions.
