Right. Even with robust support systems, the mentality needs to change. It's like the embarrassed father because his kid is gay and won't play sports or when parents (usually the father) are upset when they see pink at a gender reveal. Better care systems won't change stigma/mindset.

Absolutely. But I've seen plenty of nasty parenting for kids with relatively low support needs. Those moms who spoke at the Tylenol hearing a few weeks ago framed nearly everything they said around their own frustrations.

Also for many parents it's framed as their own personal inconvenience related to having an imperfect child rather than the quality of life for that child.
