Four years ago, I first ran for City Council because I saw the ways our communities were too often ignored by people in power.

Today, I’m proud to say I've stood by my promise to be a voice for the people and to organize alongside you.

I’m incredibly grateful for all who poured their hearts into this campaign. I can’t wait to accomplish our collective goals in a 4-year term.

Despite being heavily outspent, fighting lawsuits against a problematic landlord, and facing nonstop racist attacks, my team met every challenge with grace, love, joy, creativity, and discipline — and we still won.

Last week, our team had the opportunity to celebrate our hard-earned victory with volunteers, staff, and community.

You don't get to flipflop back and forth when it's convenient for your re-election or your MPD budget requests. There needs to be actual accountability for the impact of this rhetoric on our Minneapolis communities.

Just last week, Chief O’Hara blamed “groups of East African kids” for crime in Dinkytown. Mayor Jacob Frey and his PACs spent millions this year on Islamophobic dog whistles and anti-Somali smears. This language puts people in danger and fuels the headlines that Trump latches onto.

Trump’s attempt to end Temporary Protective Status for Somali Minnesotans on a racist whim is illegal and cruel. Our Somali friends and neighbors belong here.

Trump says he’s ending Temporary Protected Status for Somalis in Minnesota
Over 400 Somalis were living in Minnesota with Temporary Protected Status as of 2023.

Great to join the Council of Graduate Students for lunch. We discussed the lack of affordable and culturally-specific groceries in Dinkytown, Marcy Holmes & Como, how to limit the presence of ICE on campus, and the MIX development on the East Bank. Thank you COGS for hosting me!

Frey and MPD leaders are complicit in hiding MPD’s actions from their loved ones and the public. I remain committed to standing with the public and the family and loved ones of Allison Lussier and Davis Moturi in getting answers and justice.

It is inexcusable that despite being aware of the lack of compliance by officers in responding to the auditor’s request for information, MPD did nothing for weeks. The Frey administration is now responding to media pressure.

“It is incredibly frustrating we are not getting participation from MPD,” Timmerman said.

Timmerman said the delays are part of the reason why the estimated cost to contract with an outside law firm to assist with the investigation has doubled from $90,000 to about $200,000.

Like so many Black folks, Jamar’s murder sparked a fire in my soul. I felt a calling to do more–starting a journey that eventually led me to run for office.

Join me in honoring Jamar’s memory today and reflect on what calls you to step up and organize.

Family members of people murdered by MPD have been front and center in keeping the issue of police accountability on the table in Minneapolis.

Mark Ringgenberg remains at MPD today. He never faced any discipline for the shooting. Our city deserves better.

Today is the 10th anniversary of the murder of Jamar Clark by MPD. His mother Irma Burns spoke with MPR:

"It still feels like yesterday. It don’t never click in that this thing is real and so you have to be jerked, in a sense, back to reality that is real."

'Change can come': Jamar Clark's mother is keeping her son's legacy alive, 10 years on
Ten years after his death at the hands of police, Jamar Clark’s mother, Irma Burns, says it feels as if no time has passed at all.

When your socialist cash goes to DSA candidates like Robin, good things happen 🌹

Let's make this a reality in Jersey City by electing Joel Brooks and Jake Ephros!

We've got just 3 weeks until their runoff on Dec. 2nd. Send them to office with a donation today ⬇️
That’s why I’m excited to announce that I’ll be bringing forward a proposal to formally establish a Democratic Socialist Caucus within the City Council — and I will be running to lead it.

In 2026 I look forward to the Council adopting this caucus under my leadership — so we can keep advancing bold policies like a $20 minimum wage, rent control, and a city-owned grocery store.

This caucus will represent the city-wide movement we’ve built together over the past several years, ensuring that residents who believe in justice, equity, and collective care see their values reflected in City Hall.

Last week, 65,000+ residents voted to elect a democratic socialist mayor. All Council races that had a DSA-endorsed candidate won by overwhelming margin. These results send a clear message: people want leaders who will fight for working-class communities, not corporate interests.

2/ The tl;dr is, it’s good to have a hot Council race AND a good organizer Council Member. The 3 biggest surges were in @robin4mpls.bsky.social’s 2nd Ward: precincts 1/2/4 (Marcy/East Bank/Dinkytown) up 25%+. 2021 was a COVID year … but 300+ added votes went strongly to Robin. (Map below for ref.)

I am still reflecting on an incredible campaign and Election Day. Thank you again to all of the volunteers, staff, and voters who showed up for our socialist movement. Check out some highlights!

A testament to Robin's huge ground game especially talking to students. I was around for the competitive 2021 race and the field operation was impressive then, this was on another level
