Attorney, Views are my own and not intended as legal advice 😁
If we are down this rabbit hole it quickly becomes who the people with the guns support or not.

Depends on how many military backers each side gets 😬

If you mean to do, yes. to successfully create the desired result no

If I were a Democrat who wanted to run in 2028 and had even a shred of moral clarity and understanding of where we are at this time in history I'd be salivating at the prospect of running against the podcasting governor who's hosting ben shapiro in the year 2026

Ok “detention” is what I was regarding as a stop. In any case the described fact patterns seem to exceed what is allowed under terry and in the vehicle context based only on suspicion.
January 16, 2026 at 2:59 AM
A detention is an arrest and should be probable cause. Only need reasonable suspicion for brief stops short of arrest and detention.
January 16, 2026 at 1:44 AM
If you are not free to leave that is an arrest and it requires probable cause
Some of the stories in here are absolutely chilling. One US citizen of Somali descent was just riding an elevator with ICE agents and then they detained him for almost half an hour in the freezing cold despite him showing agents his passport card. They only let him go once protestors showed up.

I made this video so we can talk about what ICE is actually doing in our cities. I have the details and you need to hear them. Please share this.

ICE isn't targeting criminals or even people here illegally. They are just making up the law - every day. Here's what's going on.

That and there are elected or hereditary heads of state that are distinct from the heads of government.

It's your duty as a free person and a citizen to cast your ballot and dare the goons to try to shoot you. And if they do that to someone ahead of you, it's your job to beat the goons down because that's what freedom takes sometimes.
i actually live in a district that might be the kind of competitive that attracts attention, in a city that holds real significance for trump and his minions. there might be goons at my polling place and if i see them i'll give a smile and a wave and i'll cast my fucking ballot

Btw whichever press crew this is, you need to find a more official-looking way to tell us, or even just pull over and show us your credentials when you get a tail. We followed you for 20 minutes because you were acting exactly like ICE does when they catch a tail

I think that is a fair. Also the nature of the pre-election meddling is important where post/mid election meddling IMO is presumptively bad irrespective of the details. Eg its worse to invalidate mail ballots after the fact than to say in advance that all mail ballot need to be in by election day

Is voting to fund the government lead by this maniac at the end of the month "ignoring it" ? Because it kind of seems like it is.
No one should ignore these kinds of statements just because the President is delusional. We need to take it at face value.

This is undemocratic and un-American. Oh, and by the way, we WILL have elections whether Trump thinks we should or not.
Trump to Reuters about the midterm elections: "When you think of it, we shouldn't even have an election." www.reuters.com/world/us/fiv...

We havent had oral argument yet so I think its hard to parse, but even so we will know the rules in advance. And I disagree that they are equally overt. There is a normative and procedural difference between modifying the rules a priori and messing with the votes during or after the election.
January 15, 2026 at 9:04 PM
YMMV but I think you cannot (and they would not) continue that routine if they were the clear winners of the 2026 midterms and Republicans were trying to do illegal shit to stay in control.
January 15, 2026 at 9:00 PM
1) we do not know hos SCOTUS will come down on that and
2) we are talking about much more overt actions to meddle with things. Anything that involves "stealing ballots" will result in a contested seat in congress and the dem majority gets to decide the outcome.

Accountability > abolition If you had to choose
January 15, 2026 at 8:55 PM
Look I have plenty of complaints for how Dems have been handling things, but there is not some magic button they could press to fix things that are happening. They can and should be doing more but their options are limited.
January 15, 2026 at 8:54 PM
I think that in the event they fail to fully rest control, there will be action by the Dem congress to not seat recognize the winners of those meddled with seats.
January 15, 2026 at 8:53 PM
Yes
January 15, 2026 at 8:11 PM
Well because under the legitimate rules of our system their power is constrained (though not zero as some claim). In the scenarios we are talking about the legitimate rules would be on their side and they would be taking power that rightfully belongs to them.
