In retrospect I really would have preferred that Biden had tested the limits of the unitary executive theory. Eg fire all the r members of the nlrb and/or FEC. Making the R justices confront their theories on the worst substantive grounds for them would have had great value.

This is why I think the next Democratic president needs to use the EXACT tools that SCOTUS has handed Trump. Don't leave room for any distinctions.

Impound funds for deportation. Give ICE the USAID treatment. Refuse to collect government-backed debt. Purge MAGA loyalists from the executive branch.

Merrick Garland was bar none the worst AG in American History, and not only does the record prove it, the record keeps proving it

Imagine if ChatGPT tells your teenager to commit suicide. Should you be able to sue OpenAI?

I think the answer is obviously yes. And this is something that an healthy supermajority of Americans are very much in agreement on, as our polling finds.

Yes its both a higher bar and harder to clearly draw the line.

Further, to the extent anyone would dispute the above, they are just then admitting that any constitutionally permissible action to form a desired court composition is legitimate. Which would include court expansion.

Agree, also I think you can clearly claim that the current composition of the court was formed by illegitimate means such that its rulings should be regarded as illegitimate irrespective of their reasoning or soundness.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

I think hes just flailing in the wind and all his past experience is worthless for figuring out the next steps in this moment. Hes said that dems needed this shutdown fight but also all the nonsense following kirks murder about finding common ground. Those are in tension imo.

This is what every Democratic state needs to do, tell its state university leaders that they will lose all state appropriations if they sign the compact. Take the decision out of feckless college administrators’ hands.
mkirschenbaum.bsky.social
Virginia State Senate Dems just brought down fire and fury regarding the “Compact,” notifying the President and Rector that UVA would lose ALL STATE APPROPRIATIONS if it signs and cedes the University to “federal political control.” Notably, their letter directly restates points made here by @siva.
sivav.bsky.social
The “compact” for higher ed is an unserious document written by unserious people from a position of spectacular ignorance. No one should take it seriously. Sadly, my bosses are taking it seriously.

In 2021 they all (wrongly imo) thought he was a dead political animal. And once it was clear he wasn’t you were not going to split them on this.

Couldn’t use reconciliation and didn’t have the votes to end the filibuster. Thats ball game imo.

At least a thousand but most likely more folks marching in Chicago to protest the deployment of the National Guard and continued ICE raids. Chanting "whose city our city!"

My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.
