It something that just happens. Like an earthquake.

michaelgentile.bsky.social
I know it has, but the scale in this case seems to be larger, and the intention more explicit.

michaelgentile.bsky.social
I have to admit it really is a bad picture, though.

michaelgentile.bsky.social
Don't get me wrong. This is not surprising at all. But it is a big deal anyway.

I discovered a relatively old article (2017) by an (apparently) leading scholar (citations) that is one of the worst pieces of garbage I have ever seen, tendentious, disinforming and propagandistic to the extreme. Shame on the (then) editor of Journalism Studies. www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1...

Of course not for him. There is nothing unexpected in this news, but we should be talking about it nevertheless.

This is a pretty big deal, actually.

🔴 Russian forces attacked a UN humanitarian convoy in Kherson region this morning, local authorities report.

Four UNHCR trucks came under drone and artillery fire — one burned, another was badly damaged, while two managed to escape unharmed.

And yet he really likes being in the EU and does not want to see Ukraine in it at any cost. What a vile character.

Well said.

This "All options are on the table" rhetoric is usually used against places like Iran and North Korea, not against the American people!

The year before that I attended a seminar with her. Where she inter alia predicted that she was going to be murdered at some point.

Nineteen years ago, on October 7, 2006, Anna Politkovskaya was assassinated by Putin's hitmen.
She was the first to tell the truth about Russia's mass crimes in Chechnya, which foreshadowed those in Syria, Ukraine, Africa and elsewhere. They could have been prevented.
Almost no one listened to her.

Who might get the Nobel Peace Prize today?
And who do you think deserves it?

* Can't be given posthumously
* Nominated before 31 Jan and decided upon before 31 Aug
* Not for actively warring parties (e.g. zelensky)
* Not about who is the biggest victim
* Can be an encouragement or recognition prize

Yes. Was tempted to mention that, but the notion of tätort that includes multiple communes while excluding parts of the eponymous commune is internationally difficult to comprehend. Although Brussels technically is the same. More or less.

On my way back home from London, where I had the pleasure of being the external examiner of an excellent PhD thesis at UCL. And I also allowed myself to take two 25 km-walks - one after midnight and one this morning. Here are some sights.

Last week I took my students on a field trip to Stockholm. Stockholm was more beautiful than I have ever seen it before (and I used to live there). The last picture is from Solna, so technically not Stockholm.

Basically, she partially blames Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine on Poland and the Baltics.

Massive Russian missile and drone attack on #Ukraine last night. Russia used different types of cruise missiles, Kinzhal missiles and drones on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and civilian objects. Western regions of Ukraine were under the most intense attack.

◾️Lviv and Lviv region: massive attack.
