The Idle Thumbs forums have outlasted every other online service and website I've used so maybe I should just stick with that for forever

Well I guess I have a new thing to look into, so if you’re in BC and you’ve ever seen a game called “Lotus Spring” please let me know

(That’s just “Lotus Spring”, *not* “The Legend of Lotus Spring”)

obviously forums aren't a 1:1 replacement and aren't for everyone and (insert every disclaimer, etc here) but I do want to shoutout papercult.club and www.dosgameclub.com for being two nice smaller communities to talk about ttrpgs and DOS games. It's ZZT month in DOS Game Club!

RPG Maker Festival 2026 is running! For $3.49, you can hop into Slimes, where two guys go into a dungeon to kill some slimes (and also maybe each other). It's a world with an indifferent government and growing religious extremism... wow, wild if that were real

A really excellent, detailed review, that's more explicit about just how much stuff *hasn't* made it into this remake - including the Murder at Cafe Alps sidestory, as well as the sidestory where Kiryu emphasises with a transwoman's struggles
Review: Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is a remake built on disdain, not reverence, looking to fix a game that wasn’t broken, and ending up with little to show for itself.

The Bloggies Nominees are here!

We are 1 week away from voting, so I need everyone's help spreading the word. Congrats to all the nominees and blogs submitted—this last year was incredible. Forming the lists was equal parts rewarding and painful.

my other least favorite thing that pops up every time a big Internet thing takes a shit due to bad corporate decisions is everyone lamenting that old internet stuff is gone. It's not! You can still do that stuff! Miss forums? Go post on one, they're great. Miss personal sites? Make one on Neocities

How is Matrix? It's something I've thought about poking at because I like the idea of it and have a high tolerance (enjoyment?) of open source software but it sounds like it could be a headache to run?
