obviously forums aren't a 1:1 replacement and aren't for everyone and (insert every disclaimer, etc here) but I do want to shoutout papercult.club and www.dosgameclub.com for being two nice smaller communities to talk about ttrpgs and DOS games. It's ZZT month in DOS Game Club!

my other least favorite thing that pops up every time a big Internet thing takes a shit due to bad corporate decisions is everyone lamenting that old internet stuff is gone. It's not! You can still do that stuff! Miss forums? Go post on one, they're great. Miss personal sites? Make one on Neocities

i dont think one thing should replace discord, i think like three things at minimum should replace discord. it being an All-in-One app has ruined so many parts of online.

How is Matrix? It's something I've thought about poking at because I like the idea of it and have a high tolerance (enjoyment?) of open source software but it sounds like it could be a headache to run?
