One of the many great things about this book is it’s not focused on unearthing new (ever more obscure) facts; it’s much more interested in what the facts we already know tell us when laid out as a narrative.
Just finished Exterminate/Regenerate by @johnhiggs.bsky.social and it's an absolute must-read if you are a Doctor Who fan, of course, but also more broadly a fascinating history of the changing TV landscape and the BBC

It's the answer to the "How can right wingers like Star Trek?" question as it's the pro-Vietnam episode, as the Klingons and the Federation fight a proxy war by both sides arming different camps amongst a "primitive" people, with the end being Kirk considering it sad, but necessary.

Whisper it: Star Trek is made by Americans and therefore sometimes *incredibly* right wing.
Side note but any excuse to mention that the brief shot of the Falcon flying head-on through the TIE squadron was, at the time, the most complex VFX shot ever put together (in terms of elements and passes).

Every now and again I think about how in It’s a Wonderful Life, the switch from the bad world back to the original is handled by having George chased back to the bridge by the cop car, the car catch up with him - and the original Bert get out.

Maybe 35 years since I read this, but I still remember the "scenes" of the monster coming out of the game really well!

Yesterday’s sickbed viewing. What a deeply strange film. Don’t know if it was the bug or the production, but it delivers a very worthwhile message very stupidly. And, ironically, Pascal and Pratt are 100 times more interesting than Gadot on screen.
