It's always the Dems have no power, so fragile even bringing up trans rights or Gaza or M4A could DOOM US ALL. At the same time Dems in power are our only chance, as long as if the Black vote/youth vote/Brown vote/antiwar voters turn out even though they were ignored in the campaign.
Karen Bass making a big speech about Don Lemon while people are being kidnapped, gassed, and shot in the street in her fucking city: Unreal.

Nomination: faire des copies à l'infini
Ever realize how much of your life has been spent printing things oui and copying them with varying degrees of legality? I am marveling and if I was French I would probably have a term for it.

Whenever you give people impunity and tell them any resistance is a crime, you're going to get imposters trying to take advantage of a "do crimes for free" loophole.

It happens online too. We often see people impersonate police in order to get unquestioned access to people's private online data.

Dear @nytimes, Are you remotely curious about the identity of the two agents who killed Alex Pretti? Do you not consider it a story that federal agents killed a civilian and now remain hidden behind a veil of anonymity? Or are you just passively accepting that we live in a police state?

If you have 15 minutes, it's worth listening to this interview with Aisha Gomez from MN - www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YHa...

Listen particularly to her responses to the questions of what the cops are doing and also to what state/local government responses are/can't be.

The limits are everywhere.

Years ago I envied my friend Ingrid who spoke over loud voices at a dinner to ask, “Who is Dave Eggers?” To know such peace!

Today I had a small taste of that peace when I forgot who [redacted] is and did not bother to look it up. Recommended.

Considering there are people still in jail for protesting genocide at UCLA this is an amazing show of solidarity

My mom just told me that when she sent her mother letters, her mom would send them back with any grammar or punctuation errors circled and it was especially poignant and depressing because my mom had just been showing me all the typos she found in the LA Times this morning. (Only 2!)

Always asking the public to step up without putting any pressure on the GOP (which is their jobs as politicians) and never offering any protections for whistleblowers. Once again, all talk no action when they have the power to do something.
Good to see: Rep Jamie Raskin is encouraging whistleblowers inside DHS and DOJ to approach Dems and share info about failure to investigate ICE murders.

"We are now being far more direct in asking whistleblowers to come forward," Raskin tells me.

This sure explains a lot of bullying
"The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone."
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Cacho's Social Death remains so relevant. In it, she explains how our national identity is grounded in the idea that some people are ineligible for personhood. There are valued citizens (Renee Good, Alex Pretti). And there are people who lack human value (Keith Porter, Silverio Villegas Gonzalez).
