I've only seen the Copperhead, Cotton Mouth and Timber Rattler. The rattlesnake I ran over with my motorcycle accidently. The other two are common because I live close to water

Mosquitos here only bite my wife.
Hmmm. I would not like that. Our ants are small & boring. We have wood ticks but if you dress right outdoors you won't get them. I think I'll stay here. Mosquito season is only July to Sept. & only if it rains a lot. 2 yrs ago, no rain, no mosquitoes. It was great.
Here we have fire ants and some type of black ant that when it bites you it takes weeks to heal. Hurts like hell.

Another mosquito tale. Camping at Larue Pine hills near Snake Road in So. Illinois, the mosquitos were so severe that we had to start paper on fire before we got out of the car so the smoke would keep them away. What could possibly go wrong? If the mosquitos didn't get you the cottonmouths would

In 1998 I was on a canoe trip north of Thunder Bay, Ont. At sunset the woods would start humming. Time to get into the tent and zip it up until after dark, no hospitals around to do a blood transfusion.
Well, I haven't seen it happen, but let's just say my cats are not allowed outside! hahaha!

The only thing about living in the north is doing donuts in the parking lots, but then I don't think my front wheel drive car would be much good for doing donuts. B'sides I'm too old for that. Too much explaining to do to the cops if they came by.
I'm born here, so the cold is only uncomfortable & annoying, not dangerous or deal-breaker for living here. I go about my life, shopping, whatever I want, just add more time to trips for warming up/scraping snow off car & driving slower on sheer ice! You'll get used to it!
