If you're realizing someone you admired is a bad person or a bad faith actor, you can get off the train anytime. You don't have to be the person who eventually goes "well, he used to be good before all of that." You can just cut your losses and find a different person who does it better.

I think in terms of political/sociocultural stuff, I know some of my mutuals and followers find it a bit upsetting - and I cannot and do not fault that - so I might have a symbol that you can mute for me if you want the Good Mithos343 Content but not that. I think a friend does something like that?
