Beautiful late summer morning in southern Michigan. May your Monday be lovely too. #PureMichigan #Sunrise

Our front yard from inside the house. The grass has just been cut and is lush and green. The red maple dominates the frame; on the left is our “bird tree,” a 10 foot pine tree stump with hanging baskets and bird feeders decorating it. Flower pots surround the maple and a big oak on the left. Behind is our dirt road and the fields beyond, partially hidden in fog.

In Tarik Skubal's last 10 starts, he had a 1.55 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings. His WHIP was 0.864.

The Tigers scored 26 runs in those 10 games and went 4-6.

Real waste of what should’ve been a special season by the Tigers. Lost the way everyone knew they would for months, failing to support a generational pitcher with the least disciplined hitting imaginable. Congrats to the M’s, go win it all.

In eight playoff games, the Tigers hit .207/.281/.317 and averaged 3.6 runs per game.

The pitching staff had a 2.91 ERA with 82 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings. How much more can you ask?

I’m so relieved that game is over, I kid you not. I’d moved through every stage and was at a listless “no, it’s fine, I’ll just slowly slink into oblivion” finality. But we look forward, Tigers fans! Go do great things, Mariners! And also Blue Jays! Love you both. xoxo and sleep well, lovers of ⚾️

A.J. Hinch had Kerry Carpenter hitting leadoff for one reason - he knew it would limit George Kirby to 18 hitters.

Carpenter is 7-13 with five homers against Kirby. Dan Wilson was never going to let him hit there, which meant Gabe Speier was coming in. That at-bat was set up long before the game.
