I played Alien 2E for the first time!

Lots of quality of life changes, but was it a worthy upgrade?

I love making little videos like this, what games should I play and check out?

I have to say. I am really disappointed at how many projects in Zinequest this year have AI usage - including everyone's favourite Kyrstalia slop bucket of 100% AI created. Idk man, feels bad.

This is my game design commentary/documentary podcast that I'm soft-rebooting to focus on other people's TTRPGs!

In 2025 we raised ~$300 to fund a new website which remains unspent. As our final act upon this material plane, we will be using that money to award 6x $50 USD micro grants to ttrpg designers or content creators that could use a small boost.

This is Vienna over the last few days!

Being from the subtropical north of New Zealand, and growing up in Singapore, it's safe to say this is a very new experience for me!

Hire me to edit your TTRPG! I’ve read four games in 2026 already that just needed one last pass for polish, clarity, and a few errant details! Don’t skimp on a set of outside eyes, they really pull the whole game together, I promise!

This is well put on the uses, and dangers of overuse, of random tables in TTRPGs. Worth reading until the end, I love the stark different between the two 2d4 tables.

I think the latest episode of Design Doc from @hanbandit.bsky.social and @adrawnnovel.bsky.social at @turtlebun.com is a fantastic little lesson about game design.

What is an epiphany in game design, and how do you set yourself up for one?

resharing this again because I finally got to finish the video. Really inspired by this level of documenting, especially as Aaron mentions the rise of fragmentation and walled gardens in our space.

I feel like it is critical to have things like this readily accessible for designers at any stage!
My End of Year video is on the "Golden Age of Indie RPGs," from roughly 2010 to 2025. I start with Apocalypse World's release, work through the Google+ Era, and follow design lineages and historical events that have impacted the hobby up through 2025.

Design is a physical act. Print it out. Hold it in your hands. Cut it to shape. Paste it onto another book or zine.

Design for the hands, the hold, the fold, and the weight.

Even if your game is digital-only, the physical prototype will show you the typos.

Does anyone read TTRPG pdfs on an e-reader?

I want to read a lot more of my PDFs this year, and I have been trying to figure out a solution that makes reading better, but doesn't mean I bring my tablet everywhere I go.

Reading on my phone just leads to me getting distracted!
