Please read this thread and call Governor Hochul this morning to demand the release for and sustained asylum of Guan Heng.

Ph: (212) 681-4580

His hearing is TODAY, Monday, December 15th.
In late 2020 a Chinese man called Guan Heng travelled to Xinjiang with our BuzzFeed map of detention facilities to provide ground truth for our work - he provided the first corroborating evidence for many sites.

He escaped to the US - then ICE detained him.

Heng Guan is awaiting an immigration hearing on Monday that could lead to his removal from the U.S. and ultimately land him back in China, according to his lawyer and a New York-based activist group.

Steve isn’t here anymore, but he always posted this picture on Hanukkah so I thought we could carry on his tradition and remember him.
Happy Hanukkah to our friends who celebrate. Rachel Posner, a rabbi’s wife in Kiel, Germany, took this photograph in 1931 -- a potent reminder that fascism must be fought in every generation, even if it's wrapped in an American flag and a red hat.

If you want to learn more about the Donbas – before and after Russia's invasion, about its people, culture, towns, mines and even sparkling wine – check out my book, The War Came To Us. It moves from Bakhmut, where I lived in 2010, through the end of the first year of the full-scale war 2022.

Been thinking of Ken’s book, Red Card: How the U.S. Blew the Whistle on the World's Biggest Sports Scandal, a lot lately.
In a dramatic turnabout, the Justice Dept asked to dismiss its case against two defendants convicted in the FIFA corruption case (Hernan Lopez & Full Play Group)

DOJ gave no explanation other than it was in the "interests of justice."

📢 Urgent Action: CALL NOW BEFORE ICE MOVES TO DEPORT YUANXIN AND FEI

2 weeks ago, ICE abducted 6-year-old Yuanxin & his father Fei, separating them & refusing to disclose the 1st grader's location.

YOU CAN HELP. Call ICE. Tell your reps to call ICE.

Now more than ever, pressure is essential.

I need you to listen to and share this story - of how Trump is preparing to abandon Ukraine in exchange for Russian money for his billionaire friends.

It could be the greatest corruption of American foreign policy in our history. Russia gets Ukraine. Trump's friends get rich.

Am charmed by the commentators characterizing a potential win for Inter Miami in the MLS Cup as a final cap for Messi’s glorious career.

This is not the wholesale fraudulence of Trump’s FIFA Prize for Peace.

It is a tiny wheatgrass shot of chutzpah.

First up, blues legend Sam Lay, who came to Chicago as part of the Great Migration and played with Walter, Wolf, Muddy, and at the “Dylan Goes Electric” concert. King of the “double shuffle.”
