A bit of an out of character read for me because I really can’t stand crime (it’s usually too obvious and/or unnecessarily brutal), but I’m so glad I took a chance on this. It kept me engaged and guessing to the end and I *loved* the brief appearance of my “profession”. 1/2
A photograph of a hardback book at a jaunty angle. It is Pagans by James Alistair Henry. Most of the cover is a greyish white, with black around the edges. At the top the shape indicates buildings. The black cuts halfway down the middle of the image in a thin line where a red droplet appears with a traditional old English pattern. This indicates a divide. Below the red droplet are the silhouettes of two people, placed on what would be either side of the divide if it went that far.
The title of the book is written in red.
Along the bottom of the cover, in two lines, are the words: two cops, one killer, hundreds of gods.

Discworld … but I also go back to my childhood books (girlie, or adventure) because everything always comes right in the end. You could probably say the same about Discworld…

Some fabulous suggestions here. Though Catch-22 isn’t what we’d call feel-good although it DID make me laugh out loud until I cried so maybe you’re on to something…
