I remember the Conservative party criticising Labour reducing the number of jury trials like it was last month.
peterwalker99.bsky.social
Reform UK and the Conservatives have called the acquittal of suspended Labour councillor Ricky Jones on charges of encouraging violent disorder after he called for far-right activists’ throats to be cut "two-tier justice" and called for government action.

This was a *jury trial*.

The irony of spending 90 minutes singing and dancing in celebration of women fighting for their rights in sport, only to trample all over those rights at the end, is off the scale.”
What an insult to one of our best ever female sailors.

Arnhem Land, Australia, is home to one of the world’s largest collections of rock art. The images here depict floating human forms in a time known as the Dreaming, an era in Aboriginal beliefs associated with creation.

I'm am absolutely on board with the blunt but long-overdue honesty of this hot drinks machine.
A hot drinks machine with an option for 'beverage with the taste of hot chocolate'. A welcome dose of honesty because vending machine hot chocolate never gets beyond 'tastes vaguely like hot chocolate' in terms of quality.

Dolly Parton currently sends a new book to 2.2 million children every month. The number has steadily increased for years. It's in honor of her parents, who were illiterate. She works with hospitals. Many people have told us they had no idea the books would come. They are addressed to the child.

Dolly Parton has sent my daughter a new book every month for years as she does for thousands of children. She help fund the development of the Covid vaccine. She’s not a billionaire. I think as non wealthy people it’s hard to even imagine how much billionaires *could* be doing with their money.

John Bolton said re Ukraine/Trump, “a land swap is also a people swap, you are condemning people to live under an authoritarian regime.”

It’s so important people understand this. Land is where people live. Ukrainians living under occupation suffer violence & oppression & war crimes.

They matter.

A large percentage of my job is spent promoting the benefits of reading with your children and encouraging them to read independently. Articles like this make me sad but also proud that our library is one of the busiest in the country.

With a smaller¹ circle inside of those who think women's sexual choice is both disgusting & dangerous, & for whom the whole concept of "rape" is a perversion of men's natural entitlement to sexual service.

¹ But not small enough to not matter
sianushka.bsky.social
I drew a Venn diagram between people demanding ethnicities of those charged with sex offences, and those who think (white) men accused of rape should have anonymity and I got a circle.

I'll be 70 in a few years, and have no problem with a test. I'll be getting gradually slower when crossing the road, and could do without getting run over by someone my age who isn't fit to drive

WE DO NOT NEED YOUR PROTECTION!!! This is a party that does not GAF about women's rights - see what they have to say about abortion. See how the far right responds to Andrew Tate.

Men abuse women. Men control women. Your narrative of "protection" is a narrative of control.
