Yeah…I feel this. I’m fortunate that I started working for start ups 25 yrs ago in the early adoption curve of the web. That gave me an understanding of many of its underlying systems. Anyway, I’m volunteering to help in this process; too many don’t get how critical the current inflection point is.

I keep thinking about wanting to teach folks who are new to tech an approach called “WEB OR NOTHING”. We have to start being a lot less compromising about what tech we use and which platforms we build for.

This may end up being one of the better things that's happened to whistleblowing and reporting on the U.S. military in the modern era. If you don't have any access to protect, you suddenly build relationships with sources and people rather than pressers and gaggles.

We need spaces where assholes don't stay stupid shit to us when we're trying to be productive, where a moderator steps in and tells them to cool it. Where we have more confidence that a message will find the audience you want it to. The future of social is private messaging groups. It just is.

We keep talking about how to fix social media w/out considering that maybe--just maybe--it's now and has always been a terrible experience. How can you fix terrible? You can't have productive discussions. There's little guarantee that anything you post will be seen by any of the ppl who follow you.
