Montana Sen. Tim Sheehy blames Alex Pretti: “As federal law enforcement has worked to uphold the law and protect American families, they have faced increasingly violent rhetoric, assaults…which has lead to heartbreaking avoidable tragedies, as we witnessed unfold in Minnesota.” #mt #mtpol

Here's what ICE is up to in Northeast Minneapolis today. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Morale among new hires at ICE doesn't seem high. Some of the former LEOs are apparently concerned about being fired if/when OBBBA funding is cut, and returning ICE officers are apparently deeply unhappy at what they've been asked to do, since it has little relationship to their previous jobs.

Homan is the "moderate" here, believe it or not. Despite playing a blowhard on TV and being very gung-ho about the mission, he's been clashing with Noem, Lewandowski, and Miller for a while now because he thinks they're doing long-term damage to ICE and the Border Patrol.
Replaced by Tom Homan. From bad to worse.

Feels like ICE is trying to use Ye Old 20th Century Death Squad techniques, except they totally failed to account for the fact that social media is ubiquitous now and the regime still has basically 0 effective control over "bystanders posting constant video online of death squad movements."

I’ve watched protests live at this federal building all week and every night ICE/border patrol agents were getting increasingly (and needlessly) violent with protesters. Guard members showing decency and humanity brings me so much hope.
Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

This was just me making this comparison yesterday, but today the Korean news is calling Minnesota "America's Gwangju" and have human rights lawyers explaining how America is now living through the dictatorship Korea once had.
The Chun regime that my wife fought against in the 80s did the exact same thing. They needed a "crisis" that "only they could solve" to hoard more ill-gotten power, so they chose one city (Gwangju), declared its inhabitants enemies, sent trucks full of soldiers to violently attack and kill them.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.

2 things worth highlighting:
1) Powell doesn't want to be remembered as another Arthur Burns, who caved to presidential pressure on interest rates and contributed to 1970s stagflation
2) Powell thinks lawmakers have his back, and will stand up to Trump on Fed independence.

Nine days after the 2024 presidential election, I interviewed Chair Powell at a public event in Dallas. I asked him what happened the last time the Fed was not seen as credibly independent. Here's part of his response
