The Quiet Sleep. Someone wrote a post about how one of the famous games was cutting edge or the like and The Quiet Sleep was brought up as something to play to get a wider idea of games.

Also, even if it’s mostly lost in the firehose of everyone saying everything , I just think it’s nice to make a space a little more positive

Someone told me recently that they played Syphilisation years ago. Had they told me at the time, working on it would have felt a lot less like screaming into the void

I saw someone randomly mention an old game of mine in a recommendation post with no explanation and it made my week. I only found it off a search for something unrelated.

The Steam ecosystem is a lot of why I don’t expect financial returns from breaking genre anymore.
January 31, 2026 at 3:44 PM
Honestly, I think here it means satisfies expectations. eg; I’m in the mood for a deckbuilder, I see one on Steam, I honestly know 90% of how it plays already and I just want to make sure it scratches the itch. Genre conventions and expectations are so strong that people aren’t looking for more info

But is a detailed negative review more useful than a detailed positive review?
January 31, 2026 at 2:20 PM
Yeah, that’s probably true. Every new thing I buy is one more thing that I need to do.

RE that RT.. it’s wild how steam reviews are still so damn important to getting visibility. If you play and like indie games, the most generous and helpful thing you can do is spend an hour popping positive reviews onto anything you like with <500 or so reviews.
