RE that RT.. it’s wild how steam reviews are still so damn important to getting visibility. If you play and like indie games, the most generous and helpful thing you can do is spend an hour popping positive reviews onto anything you like with <500 or so reviews.

A new website about PC games, from me, @brendyc.bsky.social and @jonhicks.com.

Reader-supported, which means no ads, no guff, and lots of games blogging about delightful things to play. If you liked our work on RPS, we think you'll like @jank.cool.

so many sordid things about the game industry a lot of people have decided to look the other way on for so long but the companies working hand in hand with arms manufacturers and the US military have to be at the very top of that list
I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity

Fairly raw notes on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I have the skeleton for three full articles on aspects of the game (the FADT of the parries, a turn based rhythm game GDD and my ever-growing immersion article) and hopefully will get them out too.

Also you’ll should read A Paradise built in Hell by @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social. It is so daunting to start a collective power, but it is small actions that compounds over time. Like the books say, you are your neighbor’s first responder.
You don’t know your role yet maybe, but we are all finding out just what we have to offer.

In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.

I finally caught the last season of GAMETHING by @pippinbarr.bsky.social and David Wolinsky and their episode on The Golden Nugget is rattling around in my mind because we focus so much on number go up in game design but self-destruction has a lot of space to explore and a history of subaltern play.
