Anyways I also think that it’s been devastating to see Balmung RP essentially die over the last year. So many venues shut down, so many events were moved or just cancelled, all because of this horrible world congestion system and wanderer/traveller cybersex lunatics who never log out.

The few times I will go to a venue, I always bring a friend, because it seems far more difficult to approach new people for RP than ever before. Wallflowers and cliques have always been a thing, but I’ve never seen so many people just straight up ignore attempts at conversation as I have recently

I’m a relatively new RPer in FFXIV so I don’t have the same perspective as someone who’s been doing this for a decade, but even actual RP venues are largely pretty boring now. There doesn’t seem to be as much focus on building an atmosphere and community that can elevate it beyond “this is a bar”
