Useful primer for trainees/those new to nih funding. For Jan apps, while some councils have met, not all applications has finished review, so the process may be longer. If you haven’t, reach out to discuss next steps with your PO. www.nigms.nih.gov/about/counci...

I was p confident we could get a grant to fund our upcoming biodiversity mural in Kensington. Last night, they called to say our partner school is 2 blocks outside of their service area.

But ya know what? We're gonna do it anyway.

The loss of grants management specialists, those with the budget and accounting knowledge to actually get awards out the door is just as damaging for our agencies. May not have Phds but for some ICs we’ve lost more of them then folks with PhDs.

"Healthy dietary patterns, longevity genes, and life expectancy: A prospective cohort study" www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

TLDR:

Dietary component most associated with a longer life: dietary fiber

Dietary components most associated with shorter life: red meat and sugary drinks
Healthy dietary patterns, longevity genes, and life expectancy: A prospective cohort study
Healthy dietary patterns are linked to longer life expectancy and can be adapted to personal preferences and cultural traditions.
