Purveyors of rambling stories with no point
Enragement = Engagement. It is only about the clicks. The fact that people are talking about *them* is what they care about, they fundamentally do not care about the tone in which their names are mentioned.

I used to think that their inability to see stuff was just studied disinterest and the cruelty is the point, but these days I just think they're idiots.

What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Dec 1st! I can open the first door on my Bonne Maman advent calendar! I haven't had an advent calendar in years. Today is Apricot and honey; this is pretty good, maybe a bit sweet in that way honey can be. Bits of apricot, which is nice.

Eleven years ago, I wrote to Tom Stoppard to ask about this coup de théâtre from 1949. It took me down an unexpected rabbit hole - in memory of Stoppard, here's what I found.

yeah the problem isn't asylum seekers getting a taxi, it's taxi companies taking the piss on contracts with the home office and the home office not giving a toss because it's not their money.

I rarely remember compliments, which speaks poorly of me; someone once described seeing the look on my face as I spotted a friend I was looking for as like watching a sunrise over a hill and I know I've got the wording wrong but I think of that from time to time.
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

I took a slightly different route this morning on my run and saw a bunch of deer drinking from a (big) puddle next to the path. Slowed down - I was not going fast anyway but whatevs - to let them get away, they bounded across the path in front of me.
