Thank you for the lovely reaction to ‘Queen Victoria: Secret Marriage, Secret Child?’. It’s not easy to distill a 140,000 word book into 58 mins, but Impossible Factual did a fantastic job. And if you want to know EVERYTHING I’ve found, Victoria’s Secret came out today: lnk.to/victoriassec...

As a survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, Viola Ford Fletcher bravely shared her story so that we’d never forget this painful part of our history. Michelle and I are grateful for her lifelong work to advance civil rights, and send our love to her family.

and

"Ireland has excellent trans writers such as William Keohane and Soula Emmanuel, who are digging into what gender means."

There are plenty of links between the anti-trans “women’s rights” movement & anti-feminist conservatism. And opposing abortion is a logical conclusion for a movement that says no, you should not have agency over your own body; no, you do not know best about yourself; no, you have no choice.
No way I’m sharing Stock’s UnHerd article. But I am going to point to this bit which amply demonstrates the anti-trans=>anti-women’s rights pipeline. “Abortions should only be done for a highly restricted set of reasons. They should not be just nodded through for any reason a pregnant woman likes.”

The women who actually use Kenwood Ladies Pond spoke clearly: the 900 members democratically voted to maintain their trans+ inclusive policy, in place since 2019. 🏊‍♀️

Yes it's a really important detail this.
I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but interesting that one of the Prescott criticisms of the BBC is based on those of the 'History Reclaimed' group, which is also associated with the 'Restore Trust' group's attacks on & so far unsuccessful attempts to take control of the National Trust. 1/3

What is ‘The Problem’ for Victorianists and why does it begin with E.
i fully agree with this theory and in my actual field, british architectural history, The Problem is that Salisbury Cathedral is built on top of a lake and no i am not exaggerating
between this and the FSO Safer (another ship at serious risk of exploding) I’m convinced every field has its “yeah, this is the problem that keeps me up at night” and I’m on a quest to learn about all of them

It takes an obscene amount of hubris to lecture the BBC when you have The Telegraph’s record on truth-telling.

Some of the paper’s errors this year are so bad they’re almost laughable 👇🏻

i feel like this is a reasonable take that i would have held pre-2024 (the BBC did screw up therefore there should be accountability) but the fact that this trivial editing mistake should have such terrible consequences, while right wing media lies with impunity constantly, makes my head explode
Exactly, so the BBC didn't need to shoot themselves in the reputation by editing it that way. But they did, and here we are
