it's kinda funny though how when that initial bracket beta was just forming, busted precons were still relative outliers. and then literally every one since has been absolute FIRE lmao
It's not anyone's fault, but the "precons are a 2" thing from the original bracket explanation was a HUGE mistake. Almost every pre-con commander printed recently is absolute gas, and almost any change you make to those lists make them a strong 3 if they weren't already there out of the box.

That said, this really does touch on the grey-zone between 3 and 4 that could be 3.5 but also is fine with your approach - which is just to shuffle up again.

My Hofri deck can naturally draw into a combo early (involving Hofri), but is a five mana Commander without access to Green's ramp. I play him in Bracket 4.

I generally feel like there's a difference in this sort of thing happening when it comes to your Commander being piece A of a combo versus when it's not.
If this was a multi piece combo they lucked into in the 99, id be way more fine with it than when one piece is their Commander.
