Two problems, endemic to Cypriot society, are illustrated here. First, corruption is rampant - if you know the right people, you can get away with (alleged) murder without a proper investigation. Second, the authorities have made a habit of not taking women’s testimonies seriously.

But it’s important to recognize that most of the time, for most people, the legal system looked normal. You could plan your affairs. You could go about your business. The arbitrary violence was for someone else, somewhere else. And that was crucial to the regime’s power. End.

Οταν έχτιζα το σπίτι μου, εσκέφτηκα παραπάνω το payment plan απ’όσον το σκέφτηκαν η Ελληνική και Κυπριακή κυβέρνηση για το καλώδιο.

Πώς γίνεται να μη λέει το συμβόλαιο πότε θα γίνει η πρώτη πληρωμή;! Πρωτοετής φοιτητής νομικής θα έγραφε πιο watertight συμβόλαιο.

He's been hinting at his retirement for the past year, but hasn't been pushing any apparent successor (and no one in the AK-verse comes close to his popularity). Still lots of time before 2028 though. This could also be a ruse before orchestrating his supporters to beg him for another run though.
