@slovenlytrulls.com so, I know y'all aren't necessarily into horror games,

but I was recently surprised to learn of an indie horror trend of "being a girl" simulators, that highlight the way women have to be so careful.

This creator highlights them at 19:11 in this video

With SNAP/EBT cuts looming I highly recommend downloading this app! Basically restaurants and other food businesses will have available bags of random food they don’t wanna waste for ppl to buy for hella cheap! This has saved me sooooo many times when I only have $5 and need some food.

@thejenna.bsky.social you had a super busy summer, and I'm glad you had a good break... But any plans for when (or if) you're recording more eps for Big Game Hunger?

Not every pod can last forever, and I'll eventually understand if you have to end it.

Maybe the Looney Tunes short most relevant to our times: 1956's TO HARE IS HUMAN, in which Wile E. Coyote creates a computer to think for him and slavishly obeys everything it tells him to do, no matter how self-destructive.

@just-jack-1.bsky.social Did you ever see the 1998 movie Pleasantville? The big conflicts in it remind me of what we're facing now.

Old white dudes trying to limit change, despite the whole world being more complicated than their views allow.

Sedation dentistry is no longer weird. Phone cameras are really good. The price of solar panels has dropped by tens of thousands. Southern white rhinos, giant pandas, Arabian oryx and Stellar sea lions are no longer endangered.

And, I can testify, modern cancer treatments are fucking amazing.
Please give me an unironic list of things that have gotten better over the last ten years because I’m spiraling.

I’ll start: you can buy an enormous TV from Costco for like $100 bucks now.

So, this is a topic I've seen scholars discuss. Talking about how over time man's brutality has decreased.

We went from destroying whole kingdoms over petty shit, to public executions, to (mostly) valuing human life.

Life sure feels bleak these days, until you look back a couple thousand years.

@tkingfisher.com so, in your excellent book "Hemlock & Silver" I wanted to ask why you chose Hemlock? MC finds antidote for something else, but not that one

Because we still don't really have an antidote for it? Because it's the nature of things that childhood obsessions rarely have clear answers?

@slovenlytrulls.com Okay so, not necessarily D&D related, but as a feminist, how do you feel about portrayals of 'girl-failures' in media?

I came across this fascinating video on YT: youtu.be/UdLMcq--Xrg?...

And I had a fun time pondering if we need more of them. Too much nuance for D&D NPC?

Thanks, I feel inspired:

While trees rake carbon from the sky
and lignify it 'til they die,
eventually that heat's released
by fire or rot or gnawing beast.

But if you've got the clime to suit,
and want to see less top, more root
while storing carbon out the ass
you cannot beat a prairie grass.
