Her parents owe their lives to the United States accepting them as asylum seekers fleeing religious persecution in Iraq in the 1980s. She wouldn't be here if we had not offered her family safe haven.

The hypocrisy is stunning.
Habba: There were individuals that were saying that this should be a safe harbor, a safe haven. Why? America is America because we protect our own.

Agree.
My expectations that Epstein files release will tangibly change Trump's standing are low (just see what Bill Barr did to the Mueller Report); however, Congress unanimously (-1) bucking Trump on one of his biggest stands is a watershed moment for THESE Congressional Republicans. Smells lame ducky.

Often I find the outrage over these NYT stories to be the result of reading a headline and nothing more, but nope, this story is as bad as the hed.
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Dare I call @slotkin.senate.gov or @peters.senate.gov? They've been so disappointing so far this year. But hey, social media teams tasked with following their online mentions? Tell them one constituent objects to this. The ACA tax credits are a red line.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

The numbers in this are amazing. I'm committing them to memory, for the next time I hear a Republican talk about George Soros, paid agitators, Antifa, etc.
In the end, more than 104K volunteers made 4.4M calls and knocked on more than 3M doors. And as Tascha Van Auken, Mamdani’s field director said last night, “This is going to transform our city. It doesn’t stop tonight.” UPDATED POST: theconnector.substack.com/p/solidarity...
Solidarity Tech: The Platform Powering Zohran Mamdani's Movement
A conversation with Ivan Pardo, the founder of Solidarity Tech, on how a platform built for "deep organizing" of workers building unions is being used to take power in New York City.

Someone I read recently (can't recall who) described Hoekstra as "the kind of guy you make ambassador to a country you don't like." He was buddies with one of my former Indiana reps, who was also a p.o.s. Birds of a feather, etc.

What she's talking about is health care given in emergency situations, mostly labor/delivery. Rep. McClain is apparently advocating undocumented women give birth in the street, at home, etc. Her pal Mitch Albom could ask this "pro-life" congresswoman about this the next time she goes on his show.
Lisa McClain: "Democrats' plan forces taxpayers to cover the majority of emergency medical costs for all non-citizens. Another $28 billion tab for who? You guessed it, the American people."

such tender concern for the eardrums of a Capitol police officer if the sound is emanating from a liberal; no tender concern for their actual physical safety when the violence comes from Trump's insurrectionists
Mike Johnson: "They berated a Capitol police officer, screamed at him. He was merely standing his post. It shows, again, their disdain for law enforcement, the Democrats, screaming, assaulting officers."
